I'm sorry dude but position flex is normal has been for decades and longer than that literally a guy even the manster came into the league at one position play mostly special teams the first couple years, got moved turned out to be a Hall of Famer.. happens on our lines, Larry Allen, hell tyler Smith brought in to be the left guard they used him at left tackle his rookie year, then moved him back he was pretty good at both... But for sure he's a better left guard that's where he'll stay but it's good to know he can play both positions but he'll probably be an all pro at this one that's why you don't move him back unless it's an emergency..You are probably correct at this point what else can you do. I think the right side has some good options, now the left side is a big ?.
Happens all over the NFL on many teams, there are guys out there that were really good at being a small linebacker /weak side/ OLB, and we're really good at it but they knew in the NFL probably a little undersized turned him into a safety... I mean guys like Darren Woodson same thing there was a hybrid they move people around from safety to corner from corner to safety..... this is pretty much normal, you're making a bigger deal out of this than it is..
you know why here let me give you a hypothetical...
This kid only played right tackle for very little as well, but let me explain to you about the offensive line,
I don't care where your weak spot is, the defense will know it and that's where they'll bring their best pass rusher...
you don't think that Michael Parsons if he was playing our team and you moved Guyton out to the right ,he's not coming off the right, if you move your weakest guy to guard like people are talking about moving Tyler Smith to left tackle and then putting another guy in it left guard like bass ,
you're trying to tell me Parsons now doesn't move over bass or cuts right between bass and BB, you're trying to tell me that the mental problems which most of it was growing pains, the guy got in his own head, he was pretty good against miles Garrett in game one ,and the more he got overwhelmed the worse he got with the penalties, and then he got injured, and then he got pulled and it was just a cluster..
But I'm sorry if you think he wouldn't have been exposed the same exact way at right tackle as he was left tackle.
I don't want to hear about left tackle is different, not in today's NFL, they'll find the hole in your wall and they will come over that hole every single snap until you plug that hole, he would have got beat by the speed rushers just like Terrence Steele, after Steele got injured he was already not the best pass blocker at right tackle, but he was pretty good at it, but he was really good at run blocking ,he got hurt he wasn't good at any of it anymore, he still got problems with pass speed rushers...but he rebounded in run blocking at the end of last season.
So, I don't care which tackle spot you play, if you've got a problem with speed rushers and they think that they can get you and get in your head that's where your best pass rusher is going to line up over and he's going to have to learn the same way..
I don't want to hear about blind side and backside and coverage and how left tackles harder than right tackle we're talking common sense here..
I'm not saying he's going to get it fixed, but with a better offensive coaching staff that structured it seems to me more around a run oriented offense, where your offensive line coach is a strong offensive line coach, but your offensive coordinators an ex offensive line genius or guru, whatever you want to talk about..
he's just solid there that's his thing, that I believe coming into your second training camp your second offseason your weight training your expectations fall just a little bit you got some fresh voices in your head... that you can actually improve in this league, especially at one of the hardest positions in football which is playing tackle, yes maybe left tackle slightly harder than right tackle, but if you've got problems they're going to expose you no matter where you play, his problems were more mental and being overwhelmed and I think they can calm that down...
IF NOT, don't have to rethink it but that is with long camps or for that's what preseason is for and if going into the last preseason game or what not before cut down that they feel they need to bring in another left tackle they will they need to make a switch they will they're going to use these next four months or so to figure it out, i don't think they're going to go crazy and reach or make trade for a LT..
