Which athlete would make the best football player?

I too would say Lebron James. He can move like he is 6'3 at 6'8.

He would kill it in the NFL.

LeBron James and it isnt even close.

6"8.

250 pounds

Runs a 4.4

Absolutely...Could you imagine him as a hybrid TE/WR??? He could run short routes in the middle, stay behind in pass protection, or split out wide at any given time and burn most of the quickest corners in the league!

The guy is freakishly athletic, strong as an ox, plus incredibly fast and agile as well...I don't blame him for picking basketball over football for longevity and increased salary, but it would've been something else seeing him on the field.

I don't think there is anyway LeBron runs a 4.4 forty.
I can't think of any player at the NFL combine that was over 6'7" running a sub 4.5 forty.
I bet he runs a high 4.5 to 4.6, but his vertical would be off the charts.

I think he can run a 4.44 forty.

That was in highschool so it was obviously a little scewed.

But I have no doubt if he went to the combine he would run anywhere from 4.48-4.51

With a 48 inch vertical

This is while being 6"8. 250.

You've posted that twice that I have noticed. 6'8". What you are posting is 6 inches and an extra 8. At best that is 14 inches. Although I have to admit a 48 inch vertical leap for a 14 inch man is impressive. Especially if he weighs 250 pounds.

Lebron. One of the greatest natural talents in any sport of any generation.

The best sumo wrestlers, if I knew of any, would be hall of fame linemen (both sides of the ball).

Going to another era, I always thought Karl Malone at TE would have been SICK!

He used to date a girl I knew and I got to meet him when he was a rookie in the NBA. One of the biggest persons I have ever met. He looked muscular on TV, but until you stand next to him and see how wide he was at the shoulder and how thick chest to back combined with how tall, you really just can't get a full appreciation for how big.

Incredibly nice guy too. Told us that they were so poor he could not afford a basketball as a kid. So his Mom would sit on the roof and make her arms into a hoop and he shot a ball of clothes. I asked him if it ever hit his Mom in the face. He nearly teared up as he said, "she never flinched."

He allegedly has a son from when he was 20. That son plays for the Bills.

You have so many good stories it's not even funny.

There is a sad twist to Karl having a son in the NFL. He has never really acknowledged the boy and the mother was 13 when she gave birth. Karl was 20.

Karl also fathered twins when he was 17, so was the mother. A boy and a girl. Both played basketball at his alma mater, the girl now plays in the WNBA.

See, they keep on coming out.

It's crazy how tragic some of their lives can be, since most of us simply think of the glamour of their "public" life.

Line up Nate Robinson at RB in shortage and he could just simply jump over the pile...
Like they said at the dunk contest...Nate may be the best pure athlete to ever play in the NBA. To me that is all speculation, but just to be in the conversation is amazing. Too bad he's so short. He was player of the year in Washington in football as a HS running back. I would assume he was a DB too. He was a football all-american and also set the state record in the 110 meter hurdles.
