From BTB, here are the players whose contracts expire after this season:

RFA's:
David Irving
Rod Smith

3 of our 4 starters in the secondary are FA's...... yikes.

Who should we keep and whose numbers do we delete and never contact again?

We need to franchise Escobar. After that is done I say Mo, Leary, Twill and Church

T. McClain, Claiborne, Church, Williams .

Irving is restricted so he'll be back.

We can't afford Leary.

Right now the Cowboys are $17 mil over the cap for 2017.

That doesn't mean they can't resign guys... What it means is that $ will have to be carefully doled out.

I think Carr comes back on a cheap contract.

I question resigning "one year wonders" like Mo and T. McClain. Maybe cut Scandrick and use the money for Mo.

I could see Moore resigned to a similar deal.

If the team thought Collins could be moved to RT, then I'd try resigning Leary and cut Free.

Church... I'd resign to a lesser expensive deal.

Mcclain, Claiborne, Leary and Church shld be re-signed. Carr shld be offered a much reduced salary and let him go if he balks.

I think they'd rather have Claiborne over Carr just my opinion.

Terrance Williams, WR
Brice Butler, WR
I would pit Williams and Butler against each other but would be willing to let them both walk.

J.J. Wilcox, S - Unless he signs on the cheap, let him walk.
Gavin Escobar, TE - We simply don't use him, let him walk.

Brandon Carr, CB - Walk, get younger, get cheaper.
Darren McFadden, RB - Not needed.
Andrew Gachkar, LB - We have young LB's on the roster, let him walk.
Terrell McClain, DT- re-sign him.
Kellen Moore, QB - bye.
Rolando McClain - enough already.
Morris Claiborne, CB - re-sign him.
Jack Crawford, DT/DE - depends on his price. I'd rather see Collins, Tapper, Irving, and draft picks get his reps.
Lance Dunbar, RB - walk. I'm big on Darius Jackson, so I want to see him get a shot (as the back-up, back-up guy).
Charles Brown, T - already gone no?
Josh Thomas, CB - walk.

Barry Church,S, - I doubt I'll get my wish, but let him walk. He's played better recently but I still think he hurts us in coverage.
Ronald Leary, G - Will be too expensive to re-sign IMO.

Brown is a starter next year IMO. It'll come down to Carr vs Claiborne. I'd go with Mo. I see our corners as Mo, Brown , and scandrick next year and drafting a CB. If Carr doesn't get any play in FA hey let him back for cheap.

I HATE these threads in the middle of the season. Heck, we aren't even to the middle. We will have plenty of time for hand wringing after the season.
And there are tons of factors to consider including what's likely to be available in the draft
Way too early

I like the Leary, Williams and maybe Church idea..Not sold on franchising Escobar although I like him and he should be signed...good hands.
I was just kidding when I said franchise Escobar, I'd resign him for cheap tho. I really want to resign Mo and Twill. Leary will be too expensive. Church I want to resign but he can be replaced, even though he is having a great season. But I think Mo and Twill are the main ones

T Will on a reasonable deal.

Mo and McClain (the good one)

I'm interested to see how things shake out with Escobar and McFadden over the next few weeks.

Witten is near the end and keeping Escobar makes some sense. Leary is too expensive and the knees are problematic...but he is a great player to have around. I would like to see the club find a way to keep him. Williams is certainly a keeper.
