......which would you prefer if you were on offense, and trailing the other team late in the game?

Situation: 2:00 to go in the game, you have all 3 of your timeouts remaining.

1. On your own 30-yard line, needing a field goal;

or

2. On your opponents' 30-yard line, needing a touchdown?

With this team?

we cant score a TD on the 2 yard line with 5 tries...

we cant sore a TD with 60 minutes on the game clock

All kidding aside..I would honestly rather be in situation 1

touchdown to win. I never like going to OT

Well, the field goal situation was also to tie or win. Either way, the field goal is what you need.

Trick question, right? Aggressively attack is always right...but the true answer is riding the pine watching the third stringers play the second half and already with a forty point lead.

going to OT isnt a factor in any of this
True. I just always assume that a FG ties it and a TD wins it :laugh2:

In that case, I'd still only want 30 yards and a td

In situation 1 you only need 45 yards to set up a 42 yard FG which your kicker should make 80% of the time.

TDs are hard to score at the best of times even without the pressure of the time clock.

I'd take option 1.

I'd take the FG scenario. It's tougher to score touchdowns.

I'd especially take the FG choice if my team is the Cowboys. Once that field shrinks and defenses no longer have to respect you getting deep, our OL warts begin to show.

Give me Romo needing 40 yards in two minutes with all of his timeouts, then bring out Bailey for the game winner.

Option 1...

i have almost 100% faith in this offense to drive down for a FG...but not for a TD...it's more like 80% faith

30-yard line, needing a FG.

There's always the option of scoring a TD in that case. With the other option you're in 4 down territory and can't kick a FG. If you get down to say, the 20 yard line in the first scenario and can't convert a 1st down to keep getting closer, you can always kick.

Which direction is the wind blowing and did I remember to brush my teeth?
