I know it is a long ofseason and we need to pass the slow news cycle. Here is my question. Which team could you live with your son rooting for? For some reason you have been unable to instill the passion towards the Cowboys and he cheers for someone else.

I could live with a Bears fan under my roof. Ofcourse this I'll advised decision would greatly reduce the inheritance proportion, but a Bears fan is not enough to disown him in my eyes.

My sons will be Cowboys fans. I won't allow anything else.

The way I will ensure this is to force plenty of Cowboys gear/toys on them while they are young, and to tell them things like "If Dallas wins today, we're going for pizza and ice cream tonight!"

They'll naturally root for Dallas, and it will grow from there.

Heck, my wife thought it was ridiculous that I spent so much time trying to teach my first son to say "Touchdown! Dallas!" when he was just learning to talk. ;)

Some kids are contrarians. So it might not work. I am willing to resort to hypnosis and brain washing. But this was a what if everything fails question

Any of the teams with a history or tradition that isn't from the NFC East

Green Bay, Cleveland, Chicago, KC, Denver, or Minnesota wouldn't bother me.

But they will be Cowboys fans so the point is basically moot.

It's a free country. I am perfectly fine when people hate the Cowboys as long as they always do. Why would I care if someone (even my offspring) liked another team? My family were all Packers fans. I know what it was like to be ragged on for the team I love. I refuse to be a hypocrite and dictator and do the same things to my kids that I hated.

It's a non-issue. I pounded the Cowboys into my kids head from an early age, and they're both rock-solid fans. Taking them to games in Dallas sure helped as well.

I'm in the heart of Redsk*ns country and my son is a die-hard Skins hater. It's great.

Just do a good job raising your kids and it isn't an issue.

What ever team he choose. As much as I love the game and the Cowboys it is just a game.

It's not going to happen, but I could allow the Dolphins, Colts or Chargers.

You guys amuse me, .. like you will have any say in what team your child eventually roots for, any more than their favorite car, girl, music, movie, etc.

When they are at an impressionable age,(~10-15) and one team is dominant, or very successful, they may choose to cheer for that team.

They may not, .. they may always choose to root for the Cowboys, .. but if they don't, it is their decision.

I was fortunate that both of my boys were impressionable during the early to mid 90's.

:D :D

I'm like Hos though, .. my father, and my whole family are steeler fans.

Being the black sheep of my family, I could not dictate to my kids who their favorite team will be.

It's not a matter of dictating anything. It's a matter of exposing them to the right things and in the right way at the right time.

It's funny, it's had a domino effect as well. Most of my kids friends haven't been indoctrinated in football the way he has, so he's been able to swing many of them over to the Cowboys as well. :D

My first question to him would be, "Do you like eating every day?"

Good, I'm glad, .. but if he chooses a different team some day, you have no say in that.

I don't have to worry about this query b/c my son bleeds blue & silver but I'll play along!
I'd go with S.D.because they're not a NFC team and actually a sentimental fave of mine because I liked the Air Coryell days. Hell, as long as it's not another NFCE team, Niners or Steelers I wouldn't have any problem with who he supported, honestly...
