Which WR would you rather have?

TO was getting double-covered from the start of the season. We've just started to see teams roll over extra coverage on Austin.

Again, a couple of big games do not a superhero make. Let's see how he reacts to the double coverage and if he can adjust to get open.

True. But my point was that everyone was saying that we couldn't replace T.O.'s production. And at this point in the season, we have done that.

If I had to pick a top-ten Wide Receiver list it would go like this::

1. Miles Austin, biggest playmaker I seen in years.
2. Larry Fitzgerald, is a great all-around player.
3. Andre Johnson, has nice speed and catching ability.
4. Steve Smith, very fast and can make a big-play at any given time.
5. Hakeem Nicks, don't get enough playing time, but is also a big-time playmaker.
6. Calvin Johnson, has nice size and playmaking ability.
7. Vincent Jackson, like CJ I believe his size and playmaking ability makes a valid to be a threat in the endzone.
8. Deshawn Jackson - Just quick, fast, and in a hurry wide-receiver.
9. Chad Ochochinco - Is simply a playmaker. Great Route runner and game-breaker.
10. Maquese Colston - Is big and has hands and everything you want in a wide receiver.

on current form then yes definately but realistically he will need to continue this form to be considered in that category

True true, we have. I was definitely one that didn't think this group of WRs had it in them. What's crazy to think about is all the drops by Witten and bad passes to Roy. Those are two things that *CAN* be fixed and *WHEN* they're fixed, this passing game could be great. Couple it w/ healthy RBs and this offense could be unstoppable. Just gotta fix a few things.

After 9 weeks, which WR would you rather have??

WR 1: 35 catches, 467 yards, 6 TDs

or

WR 2: 27 catches, 612 yards, 7 TDs



My pick is WR 2. And it's who Jerry picked in the offseason...Miles Austin.

WR 1 was T.O's #'s after the first nine weeks of last year. And if anyone remembers last year, we didn't have a bye till Week 10. That means compared to Austin's 2009 production, he had an extra week of production.

If you average Austin's season total numbers (total numbers divided by 8 games), and plugged it in for Week 6, he would have:

30 catches, 689 yards, 8 TDs

I guess we can consider that great T.O. production replaced.

(P.S. This isn't meant to be a shot at anyone on this board, more about the media's opinion that we couldn't replace Owens' production)

He was inches away from a second TD after he badly burned that all-pro CB Sameul with that corner route - the eagles db was lucky that Romo's pass hit him in the arm or that was a second TD for Austin.

The man is a force to contend with and cannot be singled up even against all-pro cbs - he adds a dimension to this offense that it last had in 2007 when TO was still in his prime.

Wholeheartedly agree with this.

I was fine with ditching TO.

However, your question of simply what WR you would rather have based on a small sample fo games does not work in the real world. Once you pull up the curtain and you see who you talking about it makes it easier.
One guy is young and rising, the other was older and falling...and a major distraction to boot.

I don't think there's any real reason to try and make that sort of statement until he's played at least 10 games as a starter. He had 2 incredible games back to back and 2 more games with a big TD score but he's not as proven as Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, or even Marques Colston yet. imo there's no need to try and put them there. Right now it's enough to say he's earned his starting position and he's producing.

Im talking about right now. Im not talking about over the years. For example, I feel as if Mark Sanchez is a better Quarterback than Jon Kitna, but over the years John Kitna proved to be better because of how long he was in the NFL or what he did in the past, it's about now.
