I am a Miles Austin fan, but dude, come on, T.O. has been drawing double and triple teams for years. All these youngsters that are on the scene now need to put up the numbers like T.O. has done for 13yrs, and this season is not over, he still has a chance to clear 1000 yards, if his QB can have the time to get him and the other WRs the ball.
Miles can get there, but he is 4yrs behind the eight ball, T.O. only had one season under a 1000, that was his rookie season, if I am correct.
You are taking a jab at people on this board, as well as T.O.
Why else would you try and compare Miles to a future HOFer?
Umm, if T.O. comes onto this board and has a problem with what I'm saying, then he can PM me.
As for taking a jab at others on this board. What I am saying, and this may have been lost in translation, is that the media kept saying we can't replace T.O.'s production. And according to the stats, that production has been replaced. Based on careers, T.O. is a better WR than Austin is, hands down. But this isn't the past. I had a friend tell me the Cowboys were dumb for releasing Vanderjagt, "He's the most accurate kicker in NFL history." Yea, in HISTORY, not now.
I supported T.O. when he was here, but first and foremost, I'm a fan of the Star, not just the person wearing it. I'm not comparing total careers, just the first part of 2008 and 2009. I'm guessing you would probably want today's Emmitt Smith right now instead of Adrian Peterson. This isn't a hall-of-fame argument. It is a comparison of 8 or 9 games between a player that we released and a player that is replacing him.
But how about I take out the names. Let's forget about T.O. and Austin. Let's look at offensive production.
At this point in 2008 (9 games), we had 2065 passing yards, 1042 rushing yards, for a total of 3107 yards on offense.
At this point in 2009 (8 games), we have 2215 passing yards, 1109 rushing yards, for a total of 3324 yards on offense.
I know that Johnson was QB for three of those games, but they also played one extra game in 2008 (week 10 was the bye) then in 2009.
So the production we were suppose to lose because of the turnover of players on offense, hasn't happened.
There. Feel better?
