I think the battle for backup TE's is going to be exciting.
Really, I feel as if there are at least four of them with the potential to make the team, although perhaps two or three will make it. Whoever doesn't make it still has measurable NFL talent.
If the Cowboys wished to be proactive when it comes to picking up extra draft picks, they would speed up their selection process at this position and trade. Then again, a TE always seems to be stashed on Injured Reserve.
Of course, this preseason will determine Trey Lance's progress or lack thereof. I can't help but imagine the incredible advantages if he should really shine. No matter what Dak's future happens to be, having a young quarterback with elite potential has massive value.
I think the O-line battles will be a little unfair with the current draft picks given a huge advantage over the rest of the current squad. That's just the way it usually is, especially for a #1 draft pick.
What do you suppose Jerry values more, having the best guy starting or appearing competent as an NFL GM? I don't have the answer when I shouldn't even have to think about it.
I am also hoping that there is that improbable emerging star, the next DaRon Bland or Jay Ratliff. The Cowboys have been fortunate in their history to come across lower draft picks and undrafted rookies who played huge for them.
Could it be another DB like Carson? Could the Cowboys have stumbled upon their future Pro Bowl DT with Justin Rogers? Is WR Ryan Flournoy the true steal in this year's draft?
