*Philly did a GREAT job on us defensively. It's obvious they prepared well. They won the battle of the LOS, shut down our run game and blanketed Glenn and Whitten. The scary part is they just gave the rest of the league the blueprint of how to beat the Cowboys. We need to be ready for that.
I saw a lot of slipping and sliding by our offensive players all night. I don't want to blame the lackluster offensive output on an equipment issue, but it had some effect on our RB's. Also, Barber seemed to go down pretty easy on a couple plays.
I think with Crayton back teams will be more than welcome to double-cover Glenn and/or Witten. Keyshawn and Patrick will have a field day. Also, give credit where it's due. Trotter is definitely a force against the run...he was in on almost every running play.
The offensive line got better when it had to...in crunch time. Pettiti did very well, for a rook, against another top notch DE in Kearse with tons of speed and agility.
I think the league saw Dallas play its worse game and Philly play its best game and Dallas still found a way to come out on top. I agree though, adjustments will need to be made if this running game can't get going.
*The part I didn't like is we didn't seem to have any answers offensively for what they were doing. What did we talk about at halftime? Where was the hurry up? Why did we see so little of Price? Where were the screens? When a team comes with pressure as much as Philly did last night you need to spread them out and throw over the top of them with screens and sweeps. I was disapointed in the lack of adjustments.
I don't think Dallas has ever been a good screen team. On that 3rd and long screen in the first half, Barber had a chance if the OL laid some blocks, which they didn't.
The Eagles defense definitely came out fired up, ready to serve up some revenge after the thrashing the Cowboys gave them in Dallas. On the other hand, the Cowboys offense (and defense) came out as flat as you could possibly be, no matter what Campbell said. They looked like they were going through the motions the entire game.
I think when Philly blitzed most of the game, they forced Bledsoe to throw underneath or to a spot where he had to make the perfect throw to complete it. Again, to come out with a victory is sweet music. I don't see another defense coming along of Philly's caliber until Carolina (which will be one of the games of the year, imo).
*The Eagles played with a lot of energy and desperation- they needed the game more than we did and it showed. The crowd really got into the game after the Bledsoe int, that was a pivotal play. Bledsoe showed some toughness on the Glenn TD drive- I wouldn't have been surprised if he drove us to another TD is Phiily had chosen to just run 3 times. Drew looks great in the 2 minute offense, I wish we had gone to it sooner.
Yep, I agree. Just imagine when Crayton gets back.
*Parcells had just buried his brother and he looked like it- I can't imagine how tough a day that was for him. I doubt he was as into the game as he would have been normally.
He was out of it and understandably so. I think that's why Dallas was tentative. They hadn't seen their unflappable coach in that state of mind before. I'm sure he'll get back on track this week.
