Who agrees with me Brad Johnson has to GO *Merging Topic*

Right now, truth is Johnson is our best option. Oh sure, Id love to upgrade at backup QB, but you cant just sign someone to sign someone. And lemme tell ya, Chris Simms is NO upgrade to Johnson, in fact not even close. Heres the thing with Johnson, if he would happen to have to come in at least we KNOW he's not gonna meltdown and go fullblown ****** during a game. He can hold the line with the proper gameplanning. Lemme tell ya, more games are LOST than they are WON, thats especially true when it comes to a Backup QB having to come in and play. Brad may not be able to make any eyepopping plays, but he's not gonna be throwing any pick 6's on his side of the field either. Like I said, it would be great to upgrade, but to do that you have to be willing to PAY THE PRICE draft pick wise and there has to be someone available.

Thats not true...we could beat some teams on this schedule without Romo...I think we could play mostly backups as a whole vs SF and beat them...Baltimore is awful too

David

I think you underestimate both of those teams.

Not that I think they will make the playoffs (as I expect the Cowboys to do), but Baltimore still has a good defense (not great), and SF is not as bad as most people think.

To say you could play mostly backups against any pro team is a little much.

Unfortunately depth is a league-wide problem.

He looked decent last night. The problem is he is stuck playing with 2nd and 3rd stringers. So we never get a chance to see him with the starters out there. That said I wouldn't oppose an upgrade.

He's a grown man, if he has to go I bet he will be able to find a restroom.

Thank you for your concern, but if I needed to go I wouldn't want anyone starting a thread about it. Having to go is a private thing.

..............Another thing about a guy like Simms......Whatever you gain with him in youth, mobility, and armstrength, you MORE THAN LOSE back in experience and leadership. QBing has a whole lot MORE to do with the 6 inches of space between your ears then it EVER did with your arms or legs, a whole lot more. Much of the time it can be more about not making the big mistake then it is about making the big play. Thats why its called a TEAM!

After a horrible night from Brad Johnson, I would hope that Jerry Jones is making some phone calls to get a backup QB.

I know that there may not be much out there but.... I'd take Leftwich or Culpepper whom would be an upgrade over Brad Johnson.

Heck, I'd be O.K. with Chris Simms right about now. Not a big fan at all of Chris Simms but after what Brad Johnson did last night, Simms couldn't be any worse.

IMO, Jerry Jones needs to make a move by dumping Johnson and making a push for FA Culpepper or Leftwich. If not them two, then make a trade for somebody like Simms, giving up a six or seventh rounder.

What do you think the Cowboys need to do at the backup QB position?

Luck had nothing to do with it. That was just good old common sense mixed with a desire not to be Chicken Little.

Did you really feel the need to start a whole new sky is falling thread on this subject??????

I'd take a look at Culpepper maybe but I'd rather have Simms. As for Leftwich...Not NO but HELL NO!!

And LASTLY....I wonder how Chris Simms would be thought of in these parts if his last name were say Davis, and he would have played his college ball at the university of Iowa? Because in all reality, when you look at his body of work in the NFL instead of his pedigree theres not a whole lot to be excited about.

People are silly. And most people who want Brad gone actually know nothing about him or quarterbacks.....

Brad stays and is an assett to our team as a backup because of his experience.

The quarterbacks you mentioned are all jokers in comparison.

If you've ever talked to the guy or seen him off the football field, then you know he is about as much of a goof as they come--and just isn't a bright guy at all.

I gotcha.

A wise old cowboy once told me "humility is the ability to look embarrassed while you tell people how wonderful you are."

Did you see him play when Culpepper left? He had control of that team during a time when it was falling apart.... he didn't look old doing it, either.

Oh, and his days with Carter, Moss and Reed were awesome to watch. He's got the Xs and Os down better than most starters--an he's our back up.

Sucks he was always injured.

:)
