I would also like to point out what and why companies buy stock back.

When a company has excess cash on hand. They either need to use it, or invest it. Many companies own stocks of other companies or other types of investments. (You hear about Apple / Bershire Hathaway having a billions of dollars in cash)

This is excess cash they have, but they don't need it for company operations. They can invest it other companies, or they can invest in their own company. Remember, the people within the company making the decision to buy back stock, likely also own that stock and their jobs depend on using the excess cash in the best possible way.

When you see a company buy back their own stock,. it's usually a sign that the fundamentals of the company are in very good shape. (other wise, it would be a terrible investment, and remember. Their jobs likely depend on that) If they are investing in themselves, that means they believe that is the best investment for the company to make at that point in time. So, a company buying it's own stock back is a very good sign. Not a bad one or some type of intentional price manipulation.
