Most respected? Todd Archer. He sticks mostly to reporting. His editorials are reasonable with no vendetta and usually end up being correct which is a hint that he's been given some good info on a subject and he has ran with it.
Least respected?
Tough to say.
Probably a tie between JFE and Matt Mosely. I think Mosely was more reckless and ignorant. Going up to Matt McBriar and telling him that he's going to get cut and then not mentioning that he 'found that out' by lip-reading Bill Parcells while he was up in the media booth during a game...I just think there's no place in journalism for that. I also think showing up to Larry Allen's house, unannounced and demanding an interview and then complaining that Mrs. Allen slammed the door in his face...just says a lot about the guy. I really wish Larry would have given him the Jose Cortez treatment.
JFE draws my ire because she's been completely unprofessional over the years and just isn't very bright. My belief is that she got her job because she's a female and there's a contrarian point of view people have that can't see it when a female, who is in a predominantly male profession...does a horrible job. Of course, she was mentored by Randy Galloway...so I don't expect much better.
I would probably say Mr. Blue Suit is worse...but he really doesn't cover the Cowboys. He's a NFL reporter and mostly sticks to the south central/mountain area of the US. He's a pile of garbage in my book and a devout liar. I would put him #1 if he covered the Cowboys exclusively.
Gosselin was great at 1 thing...covering the draft. I've found him to be horrendous covering Dallas and the game of football. Very untalented and has a weird gimmick where he acts like he's smarter than everybody else, yet doesn't say anything brilliant or interesting and often badly contradicts himself and says really stupid things (like the time he said he always picks the home team...which is stupid...and a lie).
I lost a lot of respect for what JJT said to Street in the locker room and don't blame Dez for going off on him. I just think he's always been a terrible writer, but not as malicious and reckless as JFE and Mosely could be.
I like Sturm as much as anybody, but I don't think he's really a reporter. He's more of an analyst and blog writer.
Spagnola always lost me on the Hutchinson vs. Quincy debate. He was wrong and then went out of his way to not admit he was wrong. He's not a good read and I'd rather read Cowboys blogs than read Spagnola.
Dale Hansen kind of symbolizes the awfulness of the Dallas sports writer. Thinks they are greater than they are and have little substance backing up those claims. He was a guy that wanted Landry gone and then when he was fired, he wanted him back. He's another loser.
Steve Dennis....all I have to say is look at my signature. It was word-for-word and it is perfectly within context. I know he personally hates the fact that I have this signature...so that's why I will keep it in there. Just to remind that jamoke of what a fraud he is.
Calvin Watkins is garbage as well. Caught in more lies and poor reporting.
I actually like Broaddus. I don't always agree with him, but he backs up his opinions fairly carefully and provides quality insight from a scouting perspective.
Outside of Archer, I like Fisher the second best. He's accurate with his information and is unafraid to call out the nonsense that other reporters make and isn't afraid to call out ESPN's reporters and their inaccurate or often made-up stories.
Out of all of my favorite teams (Syracuse, Yankees, NY Rangers and Knicks)...this is easily my least favorite media group to read. As I got into my 20's, I would read all of what I could from the local papers of almost every other NFL franchise and I found the Dallas media to be the most unprofessional, archaic and uninspired writers out there. Comparing the media that covers the Patriots and Packers, it's like comparing ice cream to horse manure. And I really hate that it is that way.
