Just curious to see who everyone believes the best skill players are for Dallas. The order does not matter and I will explain later on in this thread.

I think it's very obvious. I can't even think of who another option would be...

Romo, Bryant, Austin, witten, Murray

Let me clarify something I forgot to post in the OP. Who are the 5 best OFFENSIVE skill players excluding Romo. I know, big detail I forgot to add.

I think I agree with this.

My point is this... The Cowboys consistently will play a lesser player like Vickers or Phillips instead of a guy like Harris.

Why not try to get your best 5 offensive skill players on the field and take the advantage there?

Our run game stinks so they want extra blockers...though For a WR, Harris is a great blocker

I want to see more of Harris, and more of James Hanna, who has the tools to be a very good #2 TE, and perhaps the man who takes Witten's starting role once he calls it quits.

But what is the point of bringing in an average at best blocker like Phillips when the defense will just bring in another LB? Seem like there is no positive gain of the offense.

It is just as easy to run out of 3 wide sets because the defense has to counter with nickle. This is especially true when Harris is such a good blocker.

Ummm...because its harder to run out of a 3 receiver formation. They put vickers and Phillips in based on down and distance, as does every other offense in the nfl.

Not true. NE last year was one of the best rushing teams and they ran mostly out of 3 WR sets.

Why do you believe Harris vs a 3rd CB and 2 LBs is harder to run on vs Vickers and 3 LBs?

The patriots ran a 2 te set about 60% of the time. That is only because of injuries to grok and Hernandez. Last year they rn a 2 te set almost every snap.

I don't really feel like looking up stats for this but I think the fact that basically every team in the league plays heavy formations on run downs despite the fact that the defense compensates is a pretty good indication that it's easier to run consistently from these formations.

1. Romo
2. Dez
3. Witten
4. Miles
5. Murray

I honestly think it would be very hard to come up with a different choice of 5 from the roster. I think each of us may vary a fair bit in how we rank them.

I actually think Dez is the best right now but QBs are a premium because they are so few good ones so I'd put Romo at 1 for that reason.

And this is what I am getting at though. Aaron Hernandez is not a blocker. He isn't really even a TE. But they get the mismatch they want and exploit it through the running game or the passing game. I just want Dallas to be a little more aggressive and creative in their formations.

I can't put Miles and Murray on my top 5 due to their injury problems.
