I don't think McFadden is assured a spot on the team, at all. Not at all.

These Cowboys are all about competition these days, and Garrett has proven he is going to keep/play the best guy no matter their salary or status. The players know that and it keeps the vets working hard and the low round/UDFA rookies working hard too.

McFadden will have the entire off season, training camp, and preseason to show he is one of the best 3 backs. If he doesn't, he won't be here IMO.

Play time competition makes it really difficult to tell who will get cut and who won't this far out... but it is by far the best thing for the team.

I think he's now the incumbent third down back. So he'd have to get unseated in pass protection if he's not going to make the roster, but I think you're right that he's far from a roster lock. I don't actually like him for a zone blocking scheme very much, anyway. He's more of a one-cut power runner. People seemed to be excited about this low-risk move when it happened, but I'm pretty ho-hum about it. Let's hope I'm wrong and he ends up being a great scheme fit. I do like what I've seen of the guy's attitude and temperament.

That doesn't matter....If he is healthy and he is now...there is no one in the draft or other than AP, if he were here, going to beat him out..

I think it's fair to say we've all been taking our best guesses as to who stays and who goes. In the longrun, however, there's not enough to go by to tell at this early stage who will be impressive and who won't. That is specifically what TC and practices are intended for, as we all know. Until that materializes we'll continue to play our guessing games until the truth becomes obvious . . . and it eventually will, for those patient enough to wait.

You are correct, we need to complete free agency, possible trade scenarios (lol) and the draft.

Then we shall see how they compete and who emerges!

McFadden isn't assured of making the team. You can't possibly make an educated guess on who makes the team in March. Ask again then end of August after training camp and preseason.

I can't say for certain who our RBs will be next season, but I CAN make an educated guess that McFadden will be one of them.

There have been quite a few articles quoting Jerry praising McFadden for the type of back he is and he was JJ's immediate response to losing Murray in free agency.

You want to go into the season, as a power rushing offense, without one back that truly knows the system? Unless Dunbar or Randle are total no-shows at camp one if not both should make the team.

RB isn't a hard position to learn. I don't think Dunbar or Randle are going to be saviors of this team just because they "know the system".

RB is largely a position that you can get by with talent, even if you don't necessarily know the system.

I agree to an extent, but learning the zone scheme is a significant adjustment for most RBs.

Apparently the McFadden that came out of Arkansas is the one some seem to think we're going to get. Felix Jones is available maybe Jerry can bring him back and we can get that Arkansas connection going again. lol

You guys need to give it up on AP he's not coming here. It's going to cost multiple draft picks and he's going to be looking to recoup a lot of the money he lost during his suspension. He's going to want more guaranteed money than Murray got from Philly. I would love to see the reaction on this board even from those who would love to see AP in a Cowboys uniform if Jerry made the same exact trade for AP that the Vikings made with the Cowboys for Herschel Walker back in 89.

I just don't think that the bell cow for the running back position is currently on the Cowboys' roster.

I'm not ready to give up on Randle just yet. The dude looked like another player last year as compared to his rookie year. I don't care about his off the field stuff, and I don't think the Cowboys do either. Remember Jerry said he could get 100yds a game if he were starting.

Why is Dunbar even on the team? He's used for a few screens every few games and that's it. Waste of a roster spot IMO
