No idea how the RB position will shake out but do think the given is adding a back in the Draft. I can see late in training camp the Boys attempting to trade Randle, Dunbar or Ryan Williams. Two of them may be moved and a FB cut.

Second, I also don't think McFadden is a lock to make the roster. He will have to show and prove in the offseason, training camp and the preseason.

No one is safe except the rookie draft choice.

How or why Dunbar is still with us is mind blowing

With Murray gone Dunbar has to be kept in the fold as insurance until the team figures out what they're going to do at RB. There's too many question marks for the Cowboys to be unloading RB's until they see how the draft, training camp and preseason play out. We're only in March and with the likelihood of a multi back rotation to start the season until someone emerges the Cowboys need to hang on to all their resources at the position until a decision has to be made. Dunbar would be one of the leading candidates for the odd man out based on how little he was used at the end of last season. Appeared the Cowboys were fazing him out he only touched the ball once in a meaningless game vs Washington and didn't receive a single touch in the playoffs. Right now the team has nothing but question marks at the RB position.

McFadden's injury history along with his 3.3 yards per carry average the past 3 seasons which is the lowest in the league of any RB not named Trent Richardson makes depending on him difficult. If Williams can't earn the Cowboys trust as a blocker he won't be given an opportunity because one whiff in pass protection could lead to Romo being done for the season. We've discussed Randle's off the field issues the Cowboys will be leery giving him a significant role in the running game knowing another off the field incident could lead to a suspension. Dunbar is the only RB the Cowboys currently have that doesn't have a red flag attached to him.

I think the Cowboys will carry 5 RBs.. And if one of the Fullbacks can be a good ST player and maybe an inline blocker as a TE they could even keep 6

Amazing about how a thread about the here and now gets turned into yet another fairy tale story involving Adrian Peterson.

Ever hear of Godwin's Law?

It's kinda like that around here, except replace the German dictator with Peterson.

I don't think Petersen is coming and, if it costs draft picks or a high contract, I hope he does not. Give me a solid RB in the draft and I have no problem running with one of them and McFadden as our two main backs this season.

Behind this line, I think Gurley, Gordon or Ajayi will have a great season. Matter of fact, if we take one of those three in the draft, I believe we have the favorite for Rookie of the Year barring injury.

I just don't think that the bell cow for the running back position is currently on the Cowboys' roster.

Gotta say you're probably correct, sir. Unless we're able to find another Eddie Lacy, it'll be a committee thing.

A.Peterson is not coming to Dallas and Randle/Dunbar will not make it IMO. The only way Ryan Williams loses out on a spot this year is inferior special teams play and blocking to J. Randle.

Draft choice
McFadden
Williams

I can't say for certain who our RBs will be next season, but I CAN make an educated guess that McFadden will be one of them.

There have been quite a few articles quoting Jerry praising McFadden for the type of back he is and he was JJ's immediate response to losing Murray in free agency.

I hope you're right and he becomes worthy of his draft position.

Me too Bro. It sure would be nice to catch lightning in a bottle with him.
