Assuming he had surgery immediately. Let me break this to you. Stars get immediate surgery. Third round picks wait.

Even with your optimism timeline, he's out for all of camp.

A big man coming back from a broken foot will be in terrible condition. He can't do the conditioning work with a broken foot. Even given your timeline we are looking at a player who can go more than a down or two in a series. He'd be useless if we had to call on him to take half the snaps. So useless that he's not going to be active

Prognosis was 10-12 weeks. You're assuming a setback without basis. TC is 4+ weeks and 9 weeks from last friday. He might miss most of camp but is scheduled to come back before the end even at 12 weeks recovery. In 10 weeks he would have a month before the season opener September 11th.

Dez and Lawrence were back in 7-8 weeks but were rushed back. He won't be thus the conservative timeline.

You have no idea what he and the trainers have in mind for him. The notion you cannot work out with a broken foot is just false. Cowboys have world class trainers and equipment.

10 weeks from date of injury is the first week of August. First practice is August 1 give or take a day. Camp goes for weeks and is split between California and Texas. He'll participate in some of camp. Preseason opener is August 13. Last is September 1.

'Math' is done.

Fuzzy - remember what Julio Jones said to Dez about the injury from experiencing the same injury - it would essentially cost Dez the season because he would not be the same.
I think we are better off giving him the 6 extra weeks.
This way we can carry an extra player and Collins can return to replace a probable injury by week 7.
A healthy Collins probably better than the guy he would replace.
A recovering Collins may be not much better than the same guy.
And we get to keep the extra guy for 6 weeks or more depending on Collins.

Absolutely. Some people seem to think that the only way to do conditioning is running.

Binary thinking is a waste. Thinking they had potential is not the same as saying that they will achieve it. Probabilities and spectrum analysis: study it.

With the way WR cut it would be especially debilitating as opposed to other positions. Dez couldn't run routes left I think because he struggled planting off his right foot. DLaw had the injury earlier in the year and was able to contribute. DE need to cut more than DT to turn the corner.

They are giving him the long timeframe prognosis so it should serve him well.
