Rod Marinelli IMO.

Forget Spencer or Austin.

If Lovie returns to coaching or Cowboys D continues to dramatically improve then Marinelli will be a hot commodity for a DC if not HC vacancies around the league.

I didn't think we would have him for long term anyways. I hope we have a replacement in mind now who is learning from him.

Marinelli won't get a HC job.... maybe a DC job but it won't be with Lovie because I don't think he will get a job next year, teams are going to younger/fresher coaches. Plus I'd bet Marinelli has some kind of agreement to be our DC soon cuz let's be honest how long is Kiffin going to stick around. Maybe it's wishful thinking because I don't want to lose him either, lol

IMO Marinelli is more important to retain than Kiffen.

I dunno. Kiffin's calling has been very good. It's one thing to have the philosophy down to a science it's another to apply it. There's also something to be said for feel of the game.

I almost get the feeling that Marinelli is comfortable with his DL responsibilities at this point in his career. He seems to love coaching that position and the players he coaches seem to love working underneath the guy. I can't imagine he's going to be looked at for HC jobs and outside of being a HC in Detroit for a couple years I don't think he's worked with anyone other than Kiffin and Lovie in the NFL.

I imagine it would be a tough decision for him but one that all three guys would understand if he was offered a DC job by Lovie. All three seem to be incredibly loyal and very close.

Pay won't be an issue because Jerry would pay as much as a DC job would. I guess it comes down to if he wants the added responsibility and commitment that comes with orchestrating the entire defense instead of a unit.

The only threat is Lovie. I don't think he'd care to work with anyone else.

Yeah, but the question was, "Who can we least afford to lose?"

I think he was referring to guys who actually may be gone like Miles who may be a potential cap casualty or Spencer who will be a free agent. That's how I took it anyway.
