The Giants were not playing to win so the East was never really in doubt . The bigger question to me is why are 4 , 11 and 27 still getting banged around in the 4th quarter of a hopeless meaningless game . I have zero problems resting Pollard . Malik Davis and Cooper Rush should have played in the 2nd quarter.
Dallas had to not only win but have BOTH the 49ers and Eagles lose. With Deebo back, near zero chance SF would lose.
The only point to playing the reguulars was to get them a bit of work so they wouldn't be off two weeks between games. After the first quarter it should have been backup time across the board.
But you know, while I'm not a conspiracy theorist, this game bothered me in one regard - Washington's play on defense. Just about every pass the receiver, be it was Lamb, Schultz, Brown, or whoever the defender was on the Dallas player like, as we say down South here, wihite on rice. On running plays the lbs and such immediately, as soon as the ball was snapped, ran right to the exact spot of the run. It looked like Washington knew every call.
Now was Dallas running a bunch of plays that they had run all year and Wash had seen them on film? Could be I guess, but if Dallas couldn't cover the Washington receivers, zero chance they can cover the Tampa receivers. When complaining about Dak's low completion rate, just look at how many of his passes had the ball knocked away from the receiver. Little, if any, separation by the receivers. Don't care who the qb is, you're not going to complete passes if the defender is breathing down the neck of your receiver. Can't run the ball if the defense is in your backfield as soon as the ball is snapped.
Dallas' only hope to beat Tampa is if they played soft against Washington and didn't try very hard to win.
We'll certainly find out next week...
