A third of voting power held by fans is too much.

Fan voting doesn't actually count one-third when it comes to deciding who makes the Pro Bowl -- in reality, it has almost no effect.

Contrary to popular belief most analyst in the media are not idiots, the majority of them do actually know what they're talking about.

Except when they vote for players at the wrong positions? There are many instances of the first or second All-Pro teams being affected because the AP voters don't know which guys play which positions.

What are you talking about? The fan vote has one-third of the vote, that isn't a subjective, that's a fact.

It's because of the way the NFL tabulates each "one-third" of the vote. The fan voting is split between a MUCH greater number of players than the player votes or the coaches' votes. Each team gets one combined ballot for the players and one combined ballot for the coaches, and they submit their top two choices at each position (only for their conference, and they can't vote for players on their own team). Only a handful of players at most positions will get ANY votes from the coaches or players, while every player is bound to get at least SOME votes from the fans. When each "third" of the voting is tabulated based on the percentage of votes received by that "third," the effect is that the coaches and players have a MUCH greater effect on deciding who goes to the Pro Bowl. The fan voting means very little if the coaches and players disagree with the fans' choices. That's how you end up with players WINNING the fan vote and then not even ending up as an alternate once the coaches' and players' ballots are included.

Ok that's fair enough. However, there is a trend in the pro bowl though of players being selected the year after they have a stellar season. Case and point, Dez. Victor Cruz was selected (the year after his big break out season, even though he had a much worse year the year he was selected) before him in 2013, then Dez makes it in 2014 when he had a statistically worse season. There are also examples pretty much every year of qbs making the pro bowl that should not be making it. Being selected to the all pro team is generally considered a much bigger accomplishment than the pro bowl, just read any article on it. But, everyone has their opinions so fair enough.

They're both flawed in several ways.
