Don't beat me up too bad.
It was the late 70 and I was just a little kid.

I saw Shinyribs at Gruene in May. I've seen lots of shows at Gruene but Ziggy Marley in 2014 was the best I've seen.
Very cool, love Shinyribs, haven't seen 'em in quite a while tho. Gruene Hall is a great venue, so many great musicians been through there. Really miss just hanging out drinking beer there on a Sunday afternoon.

My first official concert was this Teen Idol tour that some older girls took me along on when I was 13 and the ones I can recall that, most likely lip synched their hits, was Bobby Rydell, Fabian, Tommy Sands, Del Shannon and Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon. It really didn't matter that they lip synched, I could only recall the screaming girls and I realized the purpose of bringing me along was pure torture.

What I consider my first to attend on my own volition was Ronne Hawkins and the Hawks, great R&R band in their time and would end spinning off The Band.

My wife's and my first together was our first date, James Brown and the Famous Flames in September, 1965. That was significant to us because James called me up on stage to dance with him after seeing me imitate him on the dance floor and my wife assumed "hey, this white boy might be destined for stardom". Unfortunately, I peaked that night,

Alabama when they were just starting out in the early 80's. It was at a rodeo grounds in either Fallon or Fernley Nevada, I can't remember which. A friend and I were coming home from Reno and she said hey, my Aunt says there's a really good band playing, let's go. It was a really small crowd of just a couple hundred people, and no problem getting tickets.

Heart - I think it was '78. It was on a whim. It was a school night and it was over 100 miles away. The concert was in Shreveport, LA. I got a Heart concert T-shirt and wore it to school the next day. I was the coolest kid in High School for a day. :)

Stones, Shea Stadium Thursday Oct 28th 1989.

Google says it was a Saturday, but i don't rememeber it that way because there was basketball practice that day and we always had practice on Thursday and Friday nights and i had to miss it to go to the concert. Something is off!
