Who do you have more confidence in Mazi or Guyton moving ahead?

I think Mazi is a lost cause. Guyton has all the ability and talent in the world. Like I said I have never seen an Olineman move like that ever in Cowboys past. Now maybe in his prime Jason Peters type insane moving skills but Peters was very quick to learn the NFL and Guyton looks a lot less promising.

I hated the Guyton pick because in college he look bad at times, and it takes immense coaching and a good team with a plan, and the Cowboys seem still to lack a lot of that and the chemistry to develop him, but it is possible that changed enough this year. So I'm not 100% counting him out-yet.
 
Tough call. Mazi has been really really bad for two years and Guyton was just flat out horrible last year. The reason I say Guyton has the better chance to improve is because before the draft everything you read said he wasn't ready for the NFL and would need time to acclimate to the league. During and after the draft we kept hearing the same thing. He never should have even played last year and the only reason he did was because he was a first round draft pick and in Dallas first round draft picks are going to play. It was never expected he should be on an NFL field for regular season games before year 2 at the earliest. Now add in that our new OC seems to be a little of an OL guru and our new OL coach also seems to have a good pedigree and I think improvement is not just possible, but expected and a huge improvement is also possible within the next couple of years.

Guyton may have potential, but he has no heart.
 
Between those 2, WOW! Will have to go with the OL but only because that was his 1st year, whereas Mazi has been here a couple of years now.

Mazi did not change position
Mazi has had two full years to Guyton's one
Mazi had a lot more experience in his position than Guyton did in college

Did you come to this conclusion based on watching him play or something you read or heard somewhere?

Guyton has a much (much) better skillset, and was shoved into a role for which he was not ready.

A 6-7 guard? Leverage nightmare. Guyton is strictly a tackle, does not have guard potential.

Beebe was thrown into the fire and excelled.

Guyton might have a slightly longer learning curve. Nothing wrong with that. He showed plenty of flashes.

Some of the best OL in DAL history started slow and/or didn't even start right away.

I think Guyton comes back in 2025 as the LT we hoped he could be.

I wasn't saying he was a guard.

I said I don't think he's a tackle so the only other position he might be able to play is guard which is why I said his best shot would be to switch to guard and get better by next (2026) season.

I really do hope I'm wrong and he improves considerably with the new offense and coaches.

He has no shot at guard.

He doesn’t have the build.

Left or Right Tackle but that’s his spot.



I choose Guyton because he’s still so raw and I think he did show promise at times. We should see a big jump this year.

Mazi is just not a good football player.

He wasn’t a good football player in college and he’s not good in the Pro’s.
