Who else thinks we should cut Ellis?

Solid, huh?

That sounds awfully like the description of that girl your cousin fixed you up with in high school.
Shehad a nice personality and could bake really well.:)
You so crazy. ;)

and we know this how?

I don't.. but do you see him on the field? If the Boys keep Ellis they are going to cut a young guy who could potentially be a rotational player for the next four or five years in exchange for a 34 year-old lb who suffered a major injury less than a year ago.

By all means, let's keep an average, broken-down, aged and whiney player on the squad
After all, he lends wisdom and ... leadership to the team

Well said!!!

Cutting Ellis would be a very dumb move.

You cannot allow your distaste for a players personality to cause you to make an unsound football decision.

You're right!

Is PAcman available? I don;t like his personality, but he sure can play. When they let him.

So you are comparing Ellis to Pacman?

As the vote is 74 to 11 in favor of NOT cutting Ellis, it does not appear that many here agree with you on this one.

Ellis doesn't want to go, he wants to be more secure.

Well, just because I am in the minority doesn't mean I am wrong! It strongly suggests that, but it is not conclusive.

:)

IF, key word being IF, with carpenter hurt, and burnett hurt, don't you think we need more than UDFA, and Rookies as our LB's? Or would you rather have a proven vetran able to step in and play some tpe of support

I dont need to see him on the field, i've seen him on the field the past 10 years. I know what he can do, i dont know what spencer, Carpenter, or any of the young kids can do

When has he proven he can't do much anymore?

Training camp?

When he tied Ware for the lead in sacks two years ago?

With what? 8? He has never had more than 8. A rookie comes in, moves to a new position, and ties him for team lead. YEah, that is dominance!

dargonking999;1616002 said:
or maybe when he was second on the team in sacks, behind ware last year?

IIRC, he had 4.5. Last year's team couldn;t sack groceries, except for Ware.

dargonking999;1616002 said:
he has yet to show he can't do anything. And with the uncertinty of what spencer, and carpenter can do, I dont think we should be cutting ways with someone we know can play

HE either doesn;t weant to play, or can;t play. He has been on the field for half an hour this year. Do we hold a roster spot open in case he feels like playing this year? Glymph, Austin, Urbane, Thomes, Brown, etc., are all guuys we could use. We have other depth problems that OLB and saving a roster spot for a guy that refuses to play makes no sense. Cut him now, and re sign him after he finds out that he has no market value.

Sigh, logic fails you today my friend.

I'll take Spencer over a 34 year-old Ellis with a bad wheel everytime. To me this one is a no-brainer...it's time to move on, but apparently there are many who disagree.
The good teams like the Eagles, Pats and Colts always seem to cut guys a year earlier rather than a year late...the Boys continually do the opposite.

That is the reply you get when you offers and example of why someone's argument is invalid. And, yes, in a sense I am. The guy refuses to play because he wants more money. Forget that he has never been worth the money he wants, or that he hasn't demonstrated he has recovered from the injury.

The guy is holding out. Plain and simple. He won;t step on the field and demonstrate whether he is healthy until they guarantee money. HE is hurting the team like Pacman. In a different manner, but his selfishness is hurting the team.

When has he refused to play? When did he state he would not step on the field until he gets guaranteed money? That is an idiotic claim made by someone who wants to fabricate a reason to cut our second best pass rusher.

Logic doesn't fail me, I am just not as enamored with Ellis as you are. I don;t really think he has been great in the past. He is angry because they drafted his replacement, so he is stomping his feet like a little girl and refusing to play.

Every doctor he has been to has cleared him to play, but he is not on the field. It tells me two things, he knows he can;t be what he used to be and he wants to get more money before everyone finds that out.

Every day since training camp started. Have you been lost on a tropical island somewhere?

So, now I am an idiot? Why isn't he on the field today? Didn;t he get another second opinion from a doctor of his choice that has told him the same thing as the Cowboys?

I guess we should just let him sit on the roster until he feels like playing. After all, he had 8 sacks a few years ago. Now, thats idiotic.

That's mainly when their contracts are up, not when they are signed on the cheap. Keep him, use him as a pass-rusher and try and trade him, but just cutting him...not smart IMO.

Have you ever had a torn achillies? His foot does not feel normal and probably never will again. He had bursitis in it earlier in training camp because he is 34 years old coming off an injury which usually takes a full year to heal from.

He has said time and time again he wants to play ..... he has said time and time again he is not holding out ..... the Cowboys have said he is doing everything they have asked him to do.

Stop making crap up to try and make your point ..... You sound like Eduncan

Trade him to who and for what???? If the Jags can't get anything for Byron Leftwich, do you really think the Boys will get something for a gimpy over-the-hill pass rusher???

As a matter of fact, I have. Snapped it clean in two. You don;t come back from it the same, I don't care who you are.
