what about Flo an MBIII - Hamlin is really not that bad

FLO and MB III are pretty much done. Even if the Cowboys cut them, where ever they end up ( if they get resigned at all ) they wouldn't be much of a factor. Barber's reckless style, which was the quality that we most loved about him, has caught up to him. He's beat up. FLO has very little left in the tank and he' s not a good back up player, and out of respect for his illustrious career, he shouldn't be a back up.

Newman you want to get rid a top 10 CB - it amazes me

Well, to beging with, Newman is NOT a top 10 CB. He's not even the best CB in his own team. No, I don't " want to " get rid of him. I think he has about 2 good, solid seasons left in him. The problem, once again, is his contrct. It's too big for the production he's going to return which is why I said " theoritically " speaking, he'd be one the talented players the Cowboys could cut. Whomever picks him up, if that happens, wether it's Dallas resigning him or him going somewhere else, could get a solid CB for a good price. There's no way teams are going to give him anywhere near the contract he has now.

Same case with Hamlin, although to a lesser degree. His production had declined far more than Newman has, but his contract is not as big as Newman's. Nevertheless, it's still way too much for a player who's seen his better days. Again, just as Newman, if/when the Cowboys cut him, some team ( maybe even the Cowboys themselves ) could get a solid player for a good price because there's no way anybody is going to offer him anywhere near what he's making now.

I think Choice is a much better back than Barber and even favored trading Barber before it became a popular thought around the board. With that said if someone would give up a 4th for Barber and another team would give up a 2nd for Choice, I would trade Choice. I think Tashard has alot more trade value than Barber and Dallas needs to rebuild that Oline. And extra 2nd round pick allows Dallas to go Tackle in the 1st, guard in the 2nd, and FS or WR in the 2nd. More holes are filled and Barber and Felix still compliment each other nicely. Barber is not a great running back, but he is much better than what we got this year. He will be healthy next year and is still a good runner.

NOBODY is trading for Barber. He plays the easiest position to replace and his contract is bloated.

Choice, on the other hand, would bring back the most value. What pick would that be, I don't know other than I'm almost sure it wouldn't be a 1st or 2nd round pick and since anything after that is actually less valuable to the Cowboys than Choice is, he's not going anywhere either.

The only way Barber gets off the roster is if they cut him.

I don't think it matters if we cut or trade him, salary cap wise since this is an uncapped year. We could trade him to Danny Boy for a first rounder if they still have the pick if we want with no cap ramifications to either team.

No adam needed. You can release Barber..no ramifications since it's an uncapped year. Barber is due a 4 mil bonus this june. That's real money that Jerry would be saving if he cut him before then.

I honestly hope he's gone. I want to see a Jones and Choice combo
Eventually there will be a cap and there will be ramifications.

It will be the second Pro Bowl for Newman, who had three interceptions this season and recorded a career-high 21 pass deflections and three forced fumbles.

The less you hear a corners name...the better they are playing
.
Jenkins got a lot of attention this year because QB's challenged him (and he responded very well).

Why did they challenge him?

1. He is young and aggressive
2. Newman's guy was covered

So all of you experts ripping Newman are really showing your lack of football knowledge.
I'm not saying he never got beat. Im not saying he is a great tackler. But dude can still play

That makes zero sense.
Ben Tate would be cheaper than Barber and be both fresher and younger than Barber. Tate looked great at the Senior Bowl and we already have two young guys who can carry the load (Felix & Choice). You can get some value by trading Barber and go and get Tate as a future back.

I just think....wow...to some of this stuff.

Barber's contract is likely too big for any trade. And no one is going to trade a top pick for him. I'd be surprised to get a 3rd or a 4th for him even if he had a trade friendly contract.

A lot is going to depend on whether they think he can return to his preinjury form or not. If he can then he's worth the money and worth keeping on the team. If not then they shouldn't give him the roster bonus.

I would love to keep Barber, but as of right now the guy isn't showing the burst he showed in previous seasons. He can't get the small yards like a "power" back is supposed to. If they change the RB rotation maybe his performance changes for the better? But as of right now I'm not really confident in him picking up the tough yards like I was in the past.

Barber was never the same after that quad injury. If nothing, he does seem injury prone. They need to limit his carries to 10-12 a game, late in the game.

With that being said, he can't have that salary with so few carries, so Jerry will need to do something.

Don Corleone is right. If we can't unload him: and it doesn't look good: then JJ should restructure his deal along with RW's: yeah, I know...easier said than done..........

You couldn't be more right. Newman IS our top corner.

I love Jenkins, but people completely forget (ignore) that Jenkin's got torched for TDs in both playoff games.

Be thankful we don't have touch football specialist Asante Samuel with a star on his hat.

I expect to see both back in Cowboy uniforms next season. There is no real need to trade either guy at this time. I will say If I'm Jerry I listen to any trade offers but I would have no real intent on trading either guy
