I don't care about stats that aren't under the W column. Moore is definitely a capable OC with a good system, however, he did not build his scheme around the talents of the roster as much as he tried to fit the roster to his scheme. Dak and the Receivers had problems reading coverages and being on the same page with a route concepts, so Moore keeps running those curl/hook plays that defenders were glad to run for him. What irked me most about Moore was his stubborn focus on throwing the ball. The stats clearly indicated that balance for the offense was the most effective way to attack the opposition, even when the RBs ypc were below 3. The key was to have Dak as part of the running game in those situations. Moore never figured out that when the sledding was tough, dropping Dak back 60% of the offense's plays was a losing proposition.

Moore is going to light it up in LA with Herbert and Co. He has a guy who can sling it all over the yard and elevate the team with his arm. His kind of QB.

The chargers are the afc version of the cowboys.
I just listed reasons why we are better and beat them in 2021 at their place. we are better. I see your point but once again our own fans underrate what our team has done since 2016 which includes Dak.

Put Herbert on this Dallas team and Dak on that CHargers team, the latter would be 3-13 and we'd still be in the playoffs about to drop 40 on the Eagles 'vaunted defense'.

Here are the Cowboys defensive rankings by year:

Year Scoring Yards
2016 5th 14th
2017 13th 8th
2018 6th 7th
2019 11th 9th
2020 28th 23rd
2021 7th 19th
2022 5th 12th

So having illuminated the fallacy in your statement above I will leave it to the readers to evaluate the validity of anything further you might have to say.
The site I used is linked above and clearly shows their rankings each year. Congrats on finding one that shows it was only 4 years out of 7 and not 6, and the other 2 years were 11th and 13th according to your site. The idea of having solid defenses has been completely dismantled by your sleuthing.

Nice job of "I was wrong but I'm still right" there! LOL!

I'm confused as to what you mean by this. What is "the idea of having solid defenses?" And what about showing they've been outside the top 10 more than inside dismantles anything. Anyone who watched this team in 2016-2018 knew that the defense was suspect and its rankings heavily inflated fact that the offense dominated time of possession and made them only have to play 25-26 minutes a game. When faced with skilled QBs and strong running teams they typically got run over. It's literally the same criticism people level at the offense. Feast on chumps but get handled by good defenses. The difference is the offense has been feasting on the chumps to the tune of top 2 or 3 rankings while the defense has been feasting on their chumps to the tune of a 11-13 type of ranking. The bottom line is neither side of the ball has shown the ability to consistently win against high level competition. And that's the main issue we face as Cowboys fans.

They got a pile of weapons over there and a really good QB. Who will have the better Offense next year now that Kellen is there and what will his loss mean here.
If they ever get a real starting RB and make Ekeler the scatback he should be, scary.

I think the Cowboys will regress and that has nothing to do with Moore
Now just imagine SB Cowboys vs Chargers

No it's not. Dak's been here 7 years. Herbert 3.

Dak's had a top 10 scoring defense 6 times. Herbert 0. Dak's had a top 10 overall defense 3 times. Herbert 1 time had the 10th ranked defense. Dak has had a top 10 rushing offense 6 out of 7 years. Herbert 0.

They are not the same.
.....then Dak is like TRomo.....isn't that something?

Dallas will do little to improve offense yet again, Chargers no doubt.
