Who has experience making a DVD from pictures and video's?

Just returned from vacation with a ton of pics and videos from my grandson's first trip to our favorite beach.

What software package should I buy to help me create the DVD?

If you have a Windows 7 PC, you probably already have "Windows DVD Maker" on your system. This allows you to create a playable DVD that compiles pictures, video, and sound. If you don't see it on your list of programs, open your Control Panel, click on Programs, click on Turn Windows Features On of Off, make sure the box titled Media Features is checked. The program should now be in your Start --> All Programs list. It is easy to use... not super powerful, but easy. Once complete, you can burn the image onto a blank DVD (assuming you have a DVD writer).

You are right, it is easy to use. I have everything the way I want it except I can't figure out how to have more than one slide show.

I want it to have a few pics, then a video, then more pics and another video, .. etc. and etc.

Every time I add more pics they always go into the original slide show. So I end up with several video's but only one slide show with all of the pics together in that slide show.

I want the pics and videos to be on the DVD in the same order I created them.

What am I missing?

I have never used that program but I have to imagine that once you make a slideshow or video and try to burn it that it only lets you burn one at a time going through the software.

Is that the problem?

If that is...what you might want to try and see is if you can save the various slide shows, videos and see if you can see where they are saved.

Then make a data DVD using all of those files you saved to burn onto the DVD.

I don't know if that will run on a DVD player hooked to a TV but you would be able to open each one on another computer...I don't think they would run one after another. I think you would have to run one, wait till it was done, exit out and start another.

Or I could be completely missing what you are asking.

Ok, I just tried it & see the same thing you are experiencing. This program does not let you move back & forth between pictures and video.

However, this one does: Windows Movie Maker. It is free, and I have used it before to do what you want to do. It is part of Windows Live Essentials, so if you don't want all of that product, you need to select accordingly (see below)

Run the file you download. Select which components of Windows Live you want to download (you only need to select the photo gallery and movie maker option).

This program should let you do what you want to do. You can add music, effects, transitions, etc, then save it, share it, or burn it. It is very intuitive.
