I'm to the point where I say screw it all and let Garrett be the HC, Sparano run the offense, and just see what Bowles can do with the defense. Who knows, we may have the best defensive mind right under our nose.

I'm there with you. No matter who it is, it feels like it's going to be a letdown. So why not just roll with what you got? If it sucks, at least you got Fisher and Cowher on the horizon.

c'mon, chant w/ me and Justsayno

i think we will still be a good team next year regardless of who takes over - we have so many good players and a couple of great players and no matter who we get i think we will be a very good team going into the season.

Seriously guys, why all the man love for Rivera? Phillips should come to Dallas IMO. There is a reason why the guy calls up Ed Werder asking for a update. The man wants to be in Dallas. Plus look how quickly he turned around the San Diego Defense. That is a team that didnt have an identity on D until Phillips came to town. That team didnt have the players like Merriman, Shaun Phillips, Edwards and the DE's Olshansky and the other guy Castillo. He has turned what seemed like a stiff, roided up LB into what we think is an overrated pass rusher. The thing is, their Defense is loaded.

Phillips made that defense succeed with players who probably wouldnt start on our team (save Williams, Castillo, Merriman and McCree) and a much worse secondary. We would like to have that attacking defense that the Steelers had last year or the Chargers had this year, but BP and Zimmer didnt allow that to happen. Our team has been built for the attacking scheme Phillips uses, with mixing up of blitzes, moving around pass rushers and inside linebackers and has gone all the way to actually not leaving their horrible cover safety Terrence Kiel in coverage all the time. His defenses attack and find holes in the opposing teams blocking schemes and hand it to them and make them pay, something our team hasnt done since the 90's.

IDC if Phillips is brought here under coordinator or Head Coach title, as long as he has a hand in on our defense, I will be estatic to attend our first game of next year as soon as we find out who we're playing and when.

I could care less as long as Phillips shows up here next Monday for the announcement, just make sure he is signed.
The 4-3 sucks!

If Phillups is so "out of the loop" that he has to call freaking Werder for an update...........its over for Wade.

My personal choice was Lovie until I found out we just couldn't get him due to his contract.

Second I like Reeves but JJ doesn't.

Third I like Rivera then Singletary.

After that I like Phillips. However there are scenarios that would work with Phillips as HC, Garrett as OC, and Rivera as DC.

I've got more but who cares.

I'm also on the Phillips bandwagon here. Bring in Singletary to be the DC, he already has a heads up on the 3-4, and Phillips can teach Singletary everything he knows.

As for Garrett, Garrett can also learn a few things from Phillips, mostly about being a HC in this league, but I just don't want to give up the idea of what he can turn our defense into.

Phillips' main bargaining chip was that he claimed he could bring more assistants with him.

With Manusky ending up in San Francisco, that's one less blue chip he has.

If Turner can deliver someone like Rivera, he wins.

Based upon what seems to be happening, the Turner and Rivera "scenario" scenario looks likely to me as well. The assistants do matter and other teams have had trouble building staffs already this offseason. However, I don't pretend to see into the mind of Jerry Jones.

I can't imagine that Rivera would be TIED to Norv. I would think Singletary would still have a connect with Rivera too. Wade and Rivera would be a nice combo too with a wealth of Defensive knowledge. Any scenario of Wade, Singletary and Rivera, in any combo, would be fine and dandy with me.

With the tampa 2, I agree. If Zimmer had the horses Rivera is coaching, people would be talking about his defense like they are Rivera's. We don't have the players. We fit into a Philly mold pretty nicely, IMO - but like you said, no track record.

If anything, Rivera seems like he would be a decent head coach, someone who is at least hungry and REALLY wants the job, maybe he could nab someone off Philly's staff. I don't know anymore. Phillips made the most sense to me, but only because of his defense. It's not like I want him to really be a HC.

Matter of fact let's bail on the whole HC idea, and just have Rowdy kick out the jams before every game. The press conferences would be awesome. He could shoot Galloway in the face with that T-Shirt gun.

Zimmer would find a way to screw it up, no matter who he has on defense.
