Who here will be depressed if we

Considering there have been like 5 in the last hour, I'd imagine it's going to get ridiculous.

"...4 more days, 4 more days, 4 more days..."

Tell you what I don't want to see after the draft... if and when we do take one of the big three OLBs in the first round, if we have 48 different threads on "Why we should have taken ___________ instead of __________" I think I will have to shove my finger in my eyes.

I might be depressed if we do get Lawson, considering that we probably had better options on the board in Carpenter and Wimbley.
Wimbley better than Lawson? :lmao2:

I wouldn't subscribe to that necessarily.

I wouldn't want to draft Jonathon Scott at 18, for example.

True. And given our recent history with linemen in the draft, I might panic with such a pick.

Still, while Ireland must continue to prove his ability (as does everyone in any walk of life), I've quickly grown confident with his evaluating ability. And I still think Parcells knows talent.

Given that, I'm more convinced now than ever that we have the right minds to pick good talent -- even if it is a rather controversial pick, as would be the player you suggested.

I think Jerry has done a good job of getting good people in this front office. It's a credit to him that he's no longer as ego-driven about making these picks.

I'm starting to think I'd be okay with adressing our biggest weakness, O LINE...trade down pick up a third.

Then take Nick Mangold in the first, Max Jean Giles in the second and Jon Scott in the third, follow that pick up with Andrew Whitworth..take a second day FS or two then sign Free Agent DT Grady Jackon after the draft.

That would be an awful draft

don't get Lawson? I'm kinda building up this whole draft based on getting him. Him and Ware will just be unbelievable! Our whole defense will benefit...especially our safties and corners. Anyway, no Lawson I say tradedown for our missing 4th. :)

Lawson, Wimbley, Carpenter...doesn't matter to me, one of those, and I'll be ecstatic

quite frankly, this division over similar prospects is getting ridiculous

I don't really see much division over the prospects themselves. Just disagreement about their strengths/weaknesses, and the role they'd play as a SOLB.

theogt is the biggest Manny supporter here and even he would be happy with all 3. He just doesn't understand the role of a 3-4 SOLB, and refuses to admit to Lawson's weaknesses.

Hell, I know Lawson's weaknesses and that he wouldn't be a great fit in dallas since we already have a good WOLB, but I'd still like him. At the very least our Nickel pass rush and special teams would be awesome until he learns the position.

 I'm the biggest Lawson supporter

but anyways, all draft prospects have weaknesses, hence why they're prospects lol and to see less than that is foolish, no offense theogt

LOL yeah, and the reasons people come up to justify why their pick is better is really funny.

Its hard to say you like someone just because you do on this site without getting the 3rd degree and being told you know nothing about football, or they know the real needs, or have some sort of real inside information about a certain pick that is a sure thing.

I cant wait till someone is drafted and I can go back and read all of these posts that are filled with absolutes and sure things. Even better is when you go back and read this a year from now.

I like to go and read the draft board posts from before last years draft and all the people who said DeMarcus Ware is a bust, or Merriman was a bust or just all the crazy things people came up with to justify their opinion.

it's all about the, "well I slobbed this guy's knob the most before the draft, so he's the best option blah blah blah" lol

Thinking Carpenter is a better fit then Lawson is funny?

That he can play SOLB better then Lawson (cuz he did it for 4 years in college) is funny?

Like I said, if we needed a WOLB, Lawson would easily be at the top of my list. Some people refuse to acknowledge the difference in roles between a SOLB and a WOLB.

I don't see it that way at all.

If anyone's been doing any "slobbing of knobs" it would be a couple of people on the Manny side.

Again, I'd be happy with any of the three. I just see the obvious fact that Carpenter best fits what we need.

What report had him at 233?

Pat Kirwin, NFL.com...here is the blurb:

Two defensive coaches weighed in on Manny Lawson and described him as a cross between Jason Taylor and Jevon Kearse. Both of those veteran players entered the NFL under 240 pounds. Lawson has weighed anywhere from 241 at the Combine to 233 on his visits

First, I want to see who we get instead.......then I may be down and out. :bang2:

I don't go into a draft with one single prospect in mind, Dallas has option and Lawson is just 1 of those option and like any player in the draft he is not a sure thing of being a star player in the NFL.

If we can find a team who wants to trade with us so we can gain a 4th rounder to replace the one that we gave up to get Canty last year, I'd be happy. If we moved down, I hope we would still be able to get one of the three LBs. Of the three LBs, I would prefer Carpenter. While Lawson may be perceived by some as a better pash rusher, I think Carpenter has more overall LB skills than Lawson. My preference in order for the LBs, Carpenter - Lawson - Wimbley.
