what about frazier the defensive cordinator with the vikings. he has been rumored to be a good head coach candiate. i could see rivera if the chargers play well in the playoffs. reality is it will be garrett. i just hope we can get a good defensive cordinator who can instill some attitude in this defense.

Hadn't heard that one yet but that is one cocky, intense dude. Not a bad idea.

Harbaugh is def cocky & intense, but he's also as thick as a brick. He assembles a pretty good staff though.

Amongst established coaches, I'd take Gruden.

Rivera might not be a bad choice as he's done alot despite key injuries.

What Garrett has done to earn the job, I'll never know, but it will probably be him.

If Jason Garrett is the next Head Coach he may hire Al Groh as his Defensive Coordinator. 3-4 guy and Virginia ties to the other Garretts.

God I hope you are wrong! Groh runs the antiquated Parcells' 3-4. No thanks! I'd take Saban's hybrid system over Groh's anyday.

Another option is Gregg Williams. I believe he's on a one year deal in New Orleans and the guy is a renown tough guy who can flat out coach defense, regardless of system (3-4, 4-3, 46, zone blitzes, etc.). Williams is another guy from the Buddy Ryan coaching tree (like Wade) but was also influenced by Belichick, Capers and Jim Johnson.

they're great coaches but man we need to stay away from the retreads and find the next Shanny, holmgren, belichek, etc. There's a lot of bright young asst coaches waiting for a chance that could be great and put there on stamp on this team and I really feel thats the way too go

I don't think Jerry will hire a young coach or someone who has not either performed well as a coordinator or performed in a HC capacity. Jerry has ot hired a coach like that since the Dave Campo days, and I honestly don't think he'll start now. Besides, I agree Garrett has playcalled himself out of contention. Garrett is part of the current culture, and making him HC will only keep the current culture.

The other part of the problem is Holmgren, Shanahan, and Gruden are West Coast Offense coaches. It takes a couple of seasons for an offense to really grasp teh WCO, and this team is built to win now. Jerry won't want to wait for the offense to pick up the nuances of the West Coast Offense with 2 or 3 mediocre seasons.

Harbaugh makes sense as does Frazier and Rivera. And you can bet Jerry will do his due diligence and give Cowher, maybe even Dungy a call.

If the worse happens and Garrett does become HC, then I hope Jerry gets a good OC and DC, because let's face it Garrett will become a puppet and let Jerry make his hires. Maybe bring Charlie Weiss in here for OC. Dom Capers got promoted to DC in Green Bay and Mike Trgovac is no longer DC. So Jerry will have to find a solid DC who knows the 3-4 defense.

What happened to Gregg Williams why did he fall from the Head coaching graces? When he was in DC i thought he was gonna be up for a coaching job

I forgot about Gregg Williams, he would make a great HC. Another guy to look at for DC would be Mike Nolan, but I don't know what type of contract he has with Denver right now. I would not want him for HC, but Nolan would make a great DC.

I think Romo would be perfect for the WCO. I'd like to get someone with that sort of offensive background to come in here as either the HC or OC.

This is what I like good discussion instead of people coming in here bashing people who dont agree with their thoughts and ideas.

As far as what you said about Garrett being apart of the culture thats a fair statement and makes sense but I think its a matter of garrett trapped in a culture that phillips has created and fostered on this team. If you're part of something that someone else is leading you cant step on that leaders toes cause you feel it should be done another way cause that can cause fractioning for the team. I feel if Garrett is given the opportunity he will run it his way and put his on stamp on the team cause from what I've seen from him he's all business so if he's the one running the team he'll instill that mentality throughout the team. People may not agree with what I said but I just good a good feeling about Garrett if he's the one running the show

I agree to an extent. Other than DeCamillis, Garrett has had a better instinct/talent for identifying coaches than Wade. Garrett coveted Cam Cameron, Jim Harbaugh, Don Capers, Gregg Williams, etc. Other than DeCamillis, there are no Wade guys that I care to keep (that includes Grantham, Herring, Maxie, etc.).

If Garrett can find a way to force out Campo (like he tried w/Stewart), then I am all aboard. :D

I have no doubt that if Garrett was hired as HC in 2007, Capers and Cameron would have eventually become his coordinators.

Shanahan will be the next coach of the Cowboys. Expect a draft consisting of lineman and secondary.

Shanahan wants to come back to a 3-4, his zone blocking scheme with felix/choice would be sick.

If there's one thing that keeps me thinking about Shanahan, is the fact that his zone blocking would do wonders for the 3 back monster we have. The only problem with that is the zone blocking scheme requires smaller more nimble lineman than what we have. We have a bunch of Maulers (Columbo, Flozell, Leonard Davis). The only two lineman we have that would transition well to zone blocking is Gurode and Kozier.

Granted but our OL doesn't fit that system at all..

24-24 in his last 3 years with Denver and only 1 playoff victory since the 98 Super Bowl win.

No thanks.Just another retread.

I want someone who can win, now. Shanahan is a proven NFL coach. All these guesstimates of who will be good because they're a semi successful coordinator can blow it all on Madden. I don't want a coordinator who's going to need 4 years to get his groove. Shanahan can and has made due with worse.
