Who is "Mr. Dallas", athlete-wise, to you?

Bye-week topic fun topic, and I know it was done a year or so back in the DMN, but thought it would be fun to start again:

If you were to give the title of "Mr/Ms. Dallas" representing the best of Dallas sports to someone (beloved, identifiable, deserving of the title), who would it be? Also if you could list your era/age I think that would be interesting.

For me, and its not even close, its Dirk.

I'm 36, so I was prime time youth for the 90s Superbowls, pre-mid 80s is too early for me.

Of all-time is it definitely Staubach. Triplets all closely follow.

Of right now, it is Dirk. But Romo is gonna take that nod if the team can win a couple playoff games.

If you mean all time, I would say Landry.
If you mean all time but they have to be still alive, I would say Staubach
If you mean currently active, that's a toughie. I agree it would have to be football but the current team just doesn't have anyone that even remotely compares to the above 2 names I listed. I would probably pick Romo by default, although an argument could be made that Witten will be remembered as more of a legendary Cowboy in the years to come.

With all apologies to Nolan Ryan, it starts and ends with a Dallas Cowboy, any Maverick (Dirk is near the top NOW) is irrelevant from an "all time" perspective.....

Nolan Ryan may have a case for "Mr. Texas" but not "Mr. Dallas." He only played for the Rangers at the tail end of his career.

Also, I just noticed the OP asked for "athlete" Mr. Dallas, so obviously my pick of Landry would not apply. I just think he might be the man most associated with Dallas football, but I admit I am probably biased because he was the coach pretty much for all of my growing up years (as I suspect is the case for a lot of us in here).

The team went as Emmitt went.

He literally carried them.

Love your sig pic, .. the old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" was never more true.

(that pic is also cool because the big uglies are doing their job so well we can hardly even see the 49er players)

Man, I don't live nostalgic. Visit it once and while but I want that power o-line/running game to take us places. Just like the old days,,, it worked!!

I'd go with Staubach as well.

If you want a Dallas Mt Rushmore (I think this has been a topic here as well), just athletes not coaches, I'd go with Staubach, Emmitt, Dirk, and...the fourth one is tough. You could spread the wealth to another sport, maybe Modano, he brought a title here, but it'd be hard to put a hockey player on the list in Dallas which isn't exactly a hockey town. I'd probably go with Aikman as the fourth.

Right now it's dirk and it is not even close.

All time is hard to say because it all depends on who you ask, but probably between Staubach and Dirk.

Sad to not see many mentions of modano, but it's not really a hockey town.

Active Dirk.. Retired Emmitt.

Emmitt is the biggest legend in the metroplex. Sorry Staubach.
