Who is our best wide receiver?

Glenn is the best. That's not saying a whole lot though.
That's true.

"Happiness" isn't the only thing that's relative.

In Oakland, we'd have no starters. ;)

Next year Sarge, next year. Hang in there buddy!

:) Our WR's are not our strong point. I'd say they are average. Glenn, right now is the best though until Crayton can play a few REGULAR season games and prove otherwise.

Whatever, we're going to have some new ones (WR) in here next year, as you state BDC..............and goodmorning by the by.

:)

I agree...Glenn. Give Crayton a few more games. He has a chance to become a star in this league. What a pair of Hands.

Don't forget that when Bledsoe is behind center, 2nd stringers look like studs. Look at Peerless Price. The guy couldn't be fourth string on Dallas and Bledsoe made him look like a superstar in Buffalo.

Morn back at ya Sarge!

I suggested last night that our #4 may not be on the roster yet. The last cuts will be combed over by the brass out at Valley Ranch pretty good IMHO.

Im not so sure we would have a starter anywhere in the league. Glenn is a number three guy on alot of teams.

You may very well be correct with that. There is a pretty sharp drop off after Crayton IMO.

Quincy M., well, we won't go there.

:eek::

Of course, great quarterbacks make average receivers look good. And bad QBs detract from the good ones' games.

Which is what I was prouder of Terry's game in 03, when he was forced to play a chain-moving possession role, and still had 39 receptions for first downs, fielding passes behind, below and way above him than I am of how he looked early last season catching Testaverde's passes. Or even of what he did as a rookie with Bledsoe in his prime. When receivers can make a developing or subpar QB look good, they are good.

I don't think Bledsoe today tho, is going to make any stars out of scubs.

For example, little of the good I've seen of Crayton this summer I can attribute to phenomenal accuracy, great timing, or perfect leading of the ball.

In fact, Vinny, before he ran out of gas, was making it look easy much more than Drew is currently doing.

That can be partially attributed to the line and the time he gets, but I 'pect Patrick will look just as competent with Romo..he sure has in preseason.

Pre-season..Crayton has talent but he's going up against defenses that aren't game-planning and haven't setup defenses to stop him. And they aren't playing their starters usually when he enters the game.

I'll reserve my judgement until mid-season. Guys like him tend to disappear by then as they have to deal with the pressure. If he's still what you guys think he is then..we can reconsider. He's OK #3 material at this point as the slot receiver. And I still believe Morgan will break out of his slump and produce some big plays this year as a #3 WR, too.

Keyshawn actually is our best and most important WR. Until he came, we hadn't had a possession receiver since Irvin. He's the most fundamental WR we have that has to run the underneath routes and convert 3rd downs. Without him..Witten gets double coverage, the blitzes will be endless and it snowballs.

Key is the single biggest message deliverer for BP on the team. Bledsoe will also, but he's still new and that will take some time. Key's leadership in the lockeroom is indespensible..like Irvin's was.

Key is a vets vet and he knows he just had to be ready for the opener..plus he's had that injury at the end of last season and he's not pressing anything yet.

Best WR..? It's no contest.

Key.

We have starters on a lot of teams, but complementary number twos, not ones.

And Parcells has won with less at recevier, so what we've got doesn't worry me a bit.

There won't be any high draft picks used on receivers as long as Bill is here, imo. He chafed at using a one on Glenn in 96, inherited one in Key but moved him the second he mouthed 'hold out",and as long as he keeps finding the mid round Coles and the low round Craytons, I don't see him changing.

Not when there's another OLB to be drafted. :D

By next season, I fully expect Crayton to be "starting", and either T or Key in reality (meaning number of reps, not whose name gets called at the start of the game) the #3.

Somebody else already here will be developing (Copper, Crowder, et al) and perhaps there will be somebody drafted at wide out mid roundish, but Bill, imo, will want Todd Haley earning his keep thru player development ...I highly doubt Bill ever gift wraps ANY team, or any receivers coach, a top round receiver pick.

The most telling example of Bill's receiver-draft philosophy is 2000, when in the wake of the Johnson trade he had an unprecedented FOUR first round picks, and had Wayne Chrebet and Dedric Ward as starters as result.

No team was ever in such a need of a starting quality receiver.

But look at the pick where he 'stole' Lav Coles.

Yet another to grit yer teeth and wish Bill out asap. :lmao2:
