Could very well be Jonathan Scott.
He helped himself more in the Senior Bowl than McNeill (I believe) and Scott was playing RT, just what we need.

I don't think this question can be answered until we get the medical evals in. McNeill has questions in that regard, as do a few others.

In my opinion, if all checks out and heals right, it's Eric Winston.

any second rounders? we seem to pick our linemen in the second round:

Larry Allen, 2nd round 1994
Shane Hannah, 2nd round 1995
Flozell Adams, 2nd round 1998
Solomon Page, 2nd round 1999
Andre Gurode, 2nd round 2002
Al Johnson, 2nd round 2003
Jacob Rogers, 2nd round 2004

last time we took and offensive linemen in the first round it was Howard Richards in 1981.

The second best OT. A guy who will come in and play RT is NOT worth #18 overall. A total waste to overspend on a guy who won't be much different from those RTs drafted in round 2 or even 3. I say pick an OT who can also play some guard in round 2 or 3. I want a bookend OLB for Ware in the first.

The only way you spend #18 on an RT is if he is totally dominant. It isn't even clear who is the 2nd best OT in the draft. None of the guys after Ferguson are great value picks.

To be honest, I don't think you look at an OT as RT, if your the Cowboys. I have felt for some time that Adams is destined to end up cut/traded or at RT. He just is not what you want at LT IMO. If you draft a guy who can be a nice LT for you and move Adams to RT, then OT at 18 works. I believe there are OTs in this draft who would be worth a pick at 18.

But none of these guys -- after ferguson - are better. it is a deep group -- but not in terms of first round talent

I'd be willing to bet that we will see at least 3 OT go in the 1st rd. Just as teams look for pass rushers they look for OT to stop those pass rushers and there are 3 to 4 guys at tackle who have a good chance of going in rd 1.

I think Winston is worth that pick. I think McNeill is worth it as well, if he's healthy. I'm telling you guys, before the injury to Winston, he was not far off of Ferguson. Some even liked him better. He won't be fully recovered from that injury till next season. The player we all watched this year, at Miami, is not the player that I believe he will be once he's regained all strength and explosion.

I think I read that he hired Drew Rosenhaus...if so, I doubt Parcells and Jones will want to deal with his circus act and we wont draft his client

when you pick 18 you arnt going to get a sure fire dominant player anyway...if you do you got lucky...what you hope for is a solid starter for several years...Parcells said he didnt like to draft OL in 1st rd, but might change his mind if he felt one was the type that could lock down a tackle spot for 8-10 years

unless they sign a starter via free agency, the tackle spot is the one position on this team holding them hostage...they cant execute the offense with Tucker and Pettiti out there starting every week, so getting a talented, quality starter will be a priority whether it be via free agency or very early in the draft

That's a bummer. Well, I guess I'll scratch him from the program. Damn shame too. He is a quality player IMO.

You get better value at #18 with the LB spot - or even FS. There you'd be getting the top guy at that position

I have no doubt that there will be 3-4 OT taken in the first -- my point is that they aren't going to be so much better than the guys in the 2nd that you need to spend a first to fill the position.

If one of the tackles established themselves as the 2 number guy at the combine, we would not be reaching at 18. Why does everyone want a FS so badly? We already invested 2 1st rounders in the secondary and picked up a young FA to play CB. Anything higher than a 3rd on a FS would be overkill. As for the linebacking position we do not need a rookie. Burnett and Ware are both 2nd year players. We need a young veteran on that position. If Akin Adoyele could be signed, we will be set at linebacker.

Thats simply not true. There is a reason someone is taken in the first round and not the 2nd round. I'm not saying second rounders cannot outplay first rounders, but that is not the norm.

You're 100% right. Any tackle after Ferguson is a waste at #18.
