Who is the 2nd best OT available in the draft?

I have to agree with the sentiment that you dont draft a RT early.

Im hoping we fill our holes at OT, LB, S in FA so that we can draft whom we deem the best player.

If one of the tackles established themselves as the 2 number guy at the combine, we would not be reaching at 18.

Tackles -- and O-line guys in general -- establish themselves on the field. If you are at a "skill" position, you can improve your stock with a good 40 time. Or, increasingly, a good short shuttle for front 7 defenders.

But this stuff doesn't make much difference for OL guys -- technique and performance are key here. You see that on film.

No way.

He goes 2nd at the lowest...
probably 1st.

The second best OT. A guy who will come in and play RT is NOT worth #18 overall. A total waste to overspend on a guy who won't be much different from those RTs drafted in round 2 or even 3. I say pick an OT who can also play some guard in round 2 or 3. I want a bookend OLB for Ware in the first.

The only way you spend #18 on an RT is if he is totally dominant. It isn't even clear who is the 2nd best OT in the draft. None of the guys after Ferguson are great value picks.
How bout if he can play both LT and RT?

I'd say Petitti's 13.5 sacks given up warrants a 1st round RT finally.
Especially one that can backup Flozell as well and maybe eventually replace him.

Who would you want at 18? McNeil, Scott, Winston, or Justice? Hard to establish who is the number two guy in the draft.

I have no doubt that there will be 3-4 OT taken in the first -- my point is that they aren't going to be so much better than the guys in the 2nd that you need to spend a first to fill the position.

:hammer:

Jonathan Scott or Daryn Colledge in the 2nd, great value

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Those players will still have to get by teams with horrendous Olines in the 2nd round. Houston, Detroit, New York, Oakland, etc..
