Who is the best player on our Team?

If you really counted all positions equally, McBriar would have to be the best player on the team. He led the NFL in punting and had the highest punting average I've ever seen. Excluding him, I'd vote Newman slightly over Ware.

Oliver Hoyte by far!

If you believed me then I have some air to sell..

Seriously I would have to go with Demarcus Ware just beating out T. Newman.

I agree per position, but field postion aside, McBriar just doesn't do enough during a game to warrant such an honor. I think it's a toss-up between Newman and Ware. Romo gets honorable mention if he plays up to expectations.

In Your opinion Who on OUr TEam is the best overall player. The player with the best talent, Gifted ability, smarts and Potential.

I Have said it before and I will say it again. In my humble opinion It is Demarcus WAre. He can turn out to be one of the great-ones.

Demarcus Ware has been the best player on our team since the first mini camp he attended in may of 2005.

Well, didn't Romo claim he was our best reciever last year :)

I agree with most everyone else on here. Ware, Newman, and Owens. Hands down.

looks like We have a clear Winner lol.

I guess I'll throw my top 3.

1. Ware

2. T.O

3. Romo ( He showed talent, leadership and a ton of potential last season). If he continues to improve HE Shpuld be top 3 no matter what.

Potentially Romo can be on the top of this list ( #1). But I need to see a little more.

Witten would make the top 5 for the team. In fact, my top five in no particular order would be Ware, Newman, Owens, Williams, and Witten. If he was healthy and a few years younger, Ellis would be on the list. Terry Glenn is also a close call. Potential players who could move up include Spencer, Canty, J. Jones, Barber, and Spears.

Ware but I am hoping when you ask this question next year my answer is Romo.

Roy
Newman
Ware
TO
McBriar

I think you could make an argument for any of the 5 above..

Roy- if he is allowed to play the position he was drafted for (see his rookie season), he is as dominant as any defender in the NFL.. he will be back to that this year..

Newman- what, 2 TD passes allowed in the last two years combined?

Ware- might very well lead the NFL in sacks this year..

TO- when he is healthy, he is still one of the top 2 or 3 WRs in the game..

McBriar- you could argue that he is more dominant at his position than any other player on our team..

I love this thread because it brings to light something I think most of us miss in our never ending evaluation of this team.

It's pretty fricken talented. It's just significantly underachieved the last two years.

You have to have a strong deep roster with few weak spots. Especially in the starting 22-32 players that see most of the snaps.

Ultimately to get to and compete at the highest level you need a handful of truely special players. Not just guys that achieve probowl status. Guys that really make a difference.

We have them. Here's my order.

1) Ware - he's the best player on the team. He'll finally get the number of pass rush opportunities to really shine. I see 18 plus sacks and a defensive MVP.

2) Newman - there's no coner I'd take over him.

3) Romo - this a projection. I believe he's a top 5 QB this year. Just like he was last year.

4) Owens - another projection. He doesn't make this list based off last years play. I think early on this year we're gonna realize just how hurt he was in 2006. He's really a special player. You have WR's that excel before the catch. Guys that are very difficult to cover. And you have guys that are great after the catch. Owens is one of the few guys that excel in both areas. He's just too fast, quick and strong. He's too strong to press and he's too quick to allow a free release.

5) Williams - yet another projection. His first year, I thought he was the most dominating safety I've seen play. Just a tremendous presence on the field. A dangerous player. Remeber how many players he hurt in 2002 and 2003. Back down to 220 lbs will make all the difference.

We have a lot of other quality players that could and will play at a probowl level: Witten, Adams, Geroude, Davis, Canty, Hatcher.

The top 5 make the difference. Those are the guys that will get us to the superbowl.
