It's hard to judge the two but since Aikman played against real competition and Brady has played against a watered down parity league, then Aikman should be considered above Brady.

So, you are going to hold that against Brady...

But neglect the fact that Aikman had a better WR (Irvin) than anything Brady has had, a better RB (Smith) than anything Brady has had, a better TE than anything Brady has had (Novacek vs Furia/Graham/Watson).....?

Edit: And a better OL...

I am thinking that possibly Aikman had a better team in general tho.

That is why I chose Brady. Both great QB's, but Aikman had a lot of help.

Aikman has more talent.

If you had better talent around you in a more competitive league, you also had better competition. You can't have it one way and not the other.

Brady is great. But w/o the "tuck" rule, we wouldn't even be comparing them right now.

I spoke to this in the McNabb thread just a bit. It's difficult to compare either because of the circumstances. Brady could never play in a timing offense. He doesn't have the arm. We all know that Aikman never really threw a great deep ball so any downfield offense is not going to be a match for Aikman. Both QBs are among the very best IMO but Brady's story is not finished yet. If he wins another championship, I think you gotta give the nod to Brady. After all, that's what it's about I'm told.

Two great QBs. If I had to choose, I would pick Aikman for his accuracy and leadership.

I really cant pick one... I am somewhat bias to Aikman but...

think about it like this...

Put Aikman on those Patriots teams... I dont think he gets to and/or wins all 3 SB's

Put Brady on those Cowboys teams... I think Brady comes away with all 3 SB's maybe, just maybe he wins that 3rd NFC title game that we lost to 9ers...

I did say maybe... LOL

I think as QBs both Brady and Aikman are the same, cool under pressure etc. But Talent, no doubt, Aikman is far superior to Brady. Only thing I think Brady is superior is that great ability he has to move away pressure.

I think thats where underestimation of Aikman comes. Aikman I believe would have won three SBs with NE team and probably Brady with Cowboys team.

its tough to say, brady did it with less
but aikman did it against tougher teams
its a draw as i see it, unless brady wins another SB

It all comes down to what you are looking for. I don't think Brady has the accuracy or the arm to be as effective in the offense that Aikman ran. And I don't think Aikman was as good at dealing with a changing roster as Brady has been. Troy really struggled when he didn't have his best weapons. Brady has persevered in those situations.

I think the Patriots are going to have a down period...I think their window is about closed. If they can get back to the top with Brady leading them, I will give him the edge.

I think that Aikman has always been underestimated by many, even during the glory years.
