Eddie Murphy is the best ever. He is really lame today but his standup in the 80's was groundbreaking. I see Eddie Murphy's influence in every comedian today. People think Richard Pryor made Eddie Murphy but Pryor couldn't do impersonations and Eddie's impersonations and stories were just hilarious. Eddie's fictionalized accounts of incidents also paved the way for comedians black or white. In the past, comedians would have to be really witty or speak from their own experience but Eddie could just tell a story about something he just made up in his head that sounded funny like Mr. T being gay and coming after him. When I hear a comedian like Seinfeld or someone else say: "Could you imagine if.." That's Eddie Murphy
The best of Eddie Murphy Saturday Night life is also really funny. One of my favorite skits was him dressing up like a white guy and getting a loan from the bank etc.
I also love really weird and abstract humor like the Kids in the Hall and Mr. Show. To be honest, there really isn't a comedian I don't like except that git r done guy. I have no problem with redneck humor but his stuff is not witty at all. I think Jeff Foxworthy is much more funny.
A guy I like right now is someone in the mold of Eddie Murphy but he is the Indian version: Russell Peters. Check him out. He does great accents.
And yes, I will admit I think Norm MacDonald on SNL was funny. Yes, I know no one else thinks so but that dude cracked me up on weekend update. No one laughed at his jokes and he would just stare at you with this grin which made it hilarious
