Who is the only CB and Safety you would take in FA??

I like church as well, but he's not a free safety. Move Sensi to SS and bring in more of a ball hawk player and we will see vast improvements in this defense. Asking Church to start now would mean he's replacing Elam, and I don't see how replacing one starting corner is going to vastly help a safety.

i'm probably nuts b/c there are questions of coming back from injuries on both these guys...

but i'd go with Thomas at CB and Landry at S

Since at this stage, we are on house money in a monopoly game....

and the Texans and Saints have some high dollar items coming due now, before teams settle accounts....

This is what I want to happen:

1. Sign Chris Meyers, Texans, C and if he is resigned by Houston, go for Konz in the draft.

2. Sign Carl Nicks, Saints, G and never look back to turn into a salt pillar

3. Sign Mario Williams, Texans, DE...think strongly about playing a 4-3, or select Quinton Coples, Courtney Upshaw, or Melvin Ingram in the top pick, leaving enough wiggle to secure Konz as well

4. Sign Tyron Branch, Raiders, FS....and add good coverage as well.

5. Sign Terrell Branch, Giants, CB and do so with a slight cheap side, and at age 27



If NONE of the above are accomplished, due to extreme nepotism and altheimers:

Round 1: David DeCastro G
Round 2: Chase Minnifield CB
Round 3: George Iloka S
Round 4: Phillip Blake C

And resign Ball, Elam, Spencer, Robinson, Holland, and Kosier.

As for CB, none of them jump out at me. I like Finnegan because of his tenacity and tackling, but that's about all.

We'll get those players we can afford, want to come here, and fall to us. I'm hoping we will get one OL, at least one CB and one S. I'd like an ILB and pass rusher. We can't afford all that and i doubt we could get them all even is we could.

It's probably more fruitful to list the players you will target. I'd bet they are looking at a few players at several positions hoping to land two or three before the draft. And Spencer is a big key IMO. What he does will cascade down the line.

It's time for Jerry, Stephen, Ciscowski, Jason, Ryan, and Callahan to ***** or get off the pot...as this is the now for action, and have a quality quarterback at the helm. Picking up a free agent quarterback has NEVER worked at top levels for the entire history of the Dallas franchise.

You either invest in your previous efforts and make a run...or you are in the gallery watching the dogs run by.

Wonder if Israel is serious in a March, April, May timeframe?

Brandon Carr is a stud, I'd love for him to be a Cowboy but he'll be KC's #1 priority to get re-signed so I don't even know if he'll hit the open market. But if he does that would be my #1 target.

Griffin would be sweeeeeet. CB? Not sure to be honest. Draft maybe? But he'd have to be a day one starter and that would take a 1st or at least a second round pick which I hope they would use for the O-line and D-line.

If they went 2nd round for a CB, I'd only be slightly upset. Hopefully FA answers that question.

Not sure how you think that's accurate. Cinci's pass D was not only much better than ours, but better than the Titans' as well.

Don't know much about Griffin, but Cortland Finnegan would be a good choice. He also looks like a fiery type player that might get the others fired up. One of those love to hate players from the other team guys.

I like Thomas, despite the recovery from injury. He should return fully to previous levels by at least mid-season point. I like him, because he would come a little 'low' and allow for other pickups. He is still young at 27...and although not considered elite, he shows up in every stat category imaginable. And that translates into good enough for a Rob Ryan defense in every phase of the game. He is a magnet as well, in run support. My kind of a corner.

While a guy like Courtland Finnegan would be an upgrade in the short-term, Finnegan really isn't a true number 1 CB. Moreover, I don't think he is a long-term answer in Dallas. Finnegan played his best football at RCB. When the Titans started to move him around and allowed him to cover the other team's best WR, in 2010, Finnegan's play wasn't as good. Finnegan will play at 28 this year, and I wouldn't give him the money that he is looking for. It is a very weak free agent CB market; Finnegan will most likely be over-paid.

The defense is old and slow, and I think it will take significant time to fix. The Cowboys need young corners, young defensive linemen, and young safeties. That is the reality of the situation, and an expensive, short-term patch at CB will just bog down the cap and yield diminishing returns.
