Not sure there is a big target. The restructuring is just to get under the cap, which they have to do before the new league year starts.
With all these restructures now, it looks like they are making room to hit one big FA.
Well the restructures are just to get under the cap. However, with a cut or two (Costa/Durant) and a salary reduction (Ware) as well as a possible restructure (Witten/Carr), we'll have space to add some much needed talent on D.
If i was in the FO i'd be listening very closely on how Melton is coming along in his rehab and Chicago's interest in him. If word is he's near 100%, it'll get interesting. Chicago picks before us and Donald could be a target for them. If they let him walk, I'd assume Donald is going to be gone at 16, if Melton is healthy I'm bringing him in and truly going BPA in the draft.
I can't really see us going after many other guys, besides maybe 1-2 mid-tier level players like the DT's from Seattle just to put some guys in the rotation with skins on the wall. I wish we'd give Tillman a 1-2 year deal to come play safety under Marinelli, who he said was his favorite coach. He's been against playing safety but he's getting older and may not get a contract at CB. If he gets an offer to just come and make plays under Rod, i'd imagine he'd give it some thought. Lovie might take him TB though.
A Melton/Tillman and a solid rotational DT offseason would be joyous. I have a feeling we're going to get a steal on an OL in the first, could possibly even trade down and take the Martin guy as well as ending up with another solid mid round draft choice.
Henry Melton
or
I could see Clinton McDaniel being brought in to play the 1tech and Crawford going at the 3tech.
Brandon Browner has been reinstated.
Chicago says Melton is on track, but i think people are forgetting that Trestman is looking to go to a 3-4. This has been said by the team at the combine. His injury and arrest play a big part in it. I think under the rules of the nfl if Melton is found guilty he gets a 1 game suspension? Probably going to drop his price down a little. The thing is does Dallas go after him, or for the price of him Dallas could probably get McDonald and another player.
Crawford is another potential guy that will never pan out. A guy that was anointed before he ever really contributed. The guys we were rotating in this past year would give us more than he's going to give us...
Tired of the injury riddled guys...

They could get Melton and McDonald if they wanted too. McDonald is only on a million dollar contract.
In any case, with the news in Chicago I'd just take Melton and if Donald falls i take him too. Some might disagree but it'd provide constant terror from the 3-tech and insurance in case of injury. Can you imagine Donald/Melton on the interior in passing situations? Pick up a solid rotational 1-tech on a smallish contract(like McDonald), and a mid/late round draft pick(Reid?), and you've completely transformed the interior of your defense in one offseason.
I doubt that will happen, but I can dream.
