Who leads the team in sacks next season

IMO, the Gregory pick makes Hardy an even longer shot to re-sign here.

If Lawrence improves and Gregory is a good looking rookie, why pay top dollars long term to keep Greg Hardy?
fear factor...make em stay up loooooooooong nights to come up with a jacked up game plan....

Just watched some Randy Gregory highlights. That guy is a monster. Elite pass rush ability. I think we need to take advantage of him. Move him all over the field. Put him at SLB behind Hardy and Crawford and have him blitz. Put him at DE in the nickel with Hardy inside. I'm excited about this D-line.

I honestly think we've addressed the defensive line in a way we haven't done since before Parcells was here. This group looks like it could be the strongest defensive line we've had in the last 20 years.

The real key I think is how Crawford prepares and focuses on being that 3 technique rather than being a defensive end.

I think we finally don't have to be afraid of our defense anymore.

He's so versatile. I was seriously in Cheddars eating my chicken and waffles crying tears of joy when I refreshed CBSsports and saw he was the pick.

First two rounds really couldn't have worked out any better. We got the two BPAs both at big areas of need. And I like their versatility. Byron can play FS or CB. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gregory get some time at LB too. Just add talent to this D and see what it can do.

I bet Lawrence gets double digits barely. Maybe 10 or 11. That leads the team by 3 or 4 ahead of #2.

Chuck Norris because nobody can stop him and it's well Chuck Norris.

I'll go with a tie between Crawford and D-law with 8 or 9.

Crawford will get atleast half of the 6 to 8 sacks that he barely missed last year.

It depends on the results of Hardy's appeal. As is, the sack leader will be DLaw.

Leading candidates are

The Pro Bowl Defensive end who will miss a games due to suspension

The highly touted rookie.

The 2nd year man who seemed to pick it up late in the year.

With a dark horse undertackle who created significant pressure his first year at the position but didnt finish

I see Crawford having a breakout season and playing the whole way. I will go with him unless Hardy's suspension gets reduced. Next in line is Lawrence who is talented in his own right and will play the whole season. Mincey next. Then Gregory.

Hardy gets his suspension reduced to 2-4 games he moves to the top.

I like the way you think.

Lawrence.

My guess is:

1. Hardy
2. Gregory
3. Mincey
4. Lawrence

Lawrence will have more sacks, but Hardy will have more sacks per game played.

This is a tough choice, but I gotta go with Randy Gregory. He's long, strong, and fast with a non-stop motor. By the time we hit the stretch run he should be beasting and pull ahead of DLaw, Hardy, and Mincey. What's neat is we have too many weapons to double them all, so we're going to get some sacks this year. A bunch of them, I think.

I dont see anything in gregory that says he wont be anything more than a average underacheiving player. The guy was lazy in college and he showed it with bad interviews, being late and getting popped for weed.

Lawrence needs too much work still, im not even sure he will even beat out Mincey.

Mincey, i dont think he will fair any different than Selvie his 2nd yr.

And im sorry but Crawford is not a sack guy. He disrupts alot inside but he just doesnt have the closing speed to get them pursuit sacks.

Hardy will lead easily.

Think the suprise will be Ben Gardner. Would not suprise me one bit if at some point this yr he is starting at SDE

Being an immature knucklehead and a bad football player are two completely different things. You gave no reasons why Gregory won't be a good player. Only legit criticism I've heard from experts is that he might be too small to go against NFL tackles. That might be true at the moment. But we can work around it by moving him around the field. In the long run, he might need to beef up to become a full-time starter. You're right. His character might make him another Josh Gordon - a waste of talent. But I don't see how "he won't be anything more than a average underachieving player." Josh Gordon is far from average.
