Who should Garrett hire as a OC next season?

Real simple, in the real world is he going to hire an OC just to appease the fans and media? Or is he going to continue to act as both just like other team's head coaches do?

If we're all about objectivity and realism now CL, how about we actually practice it?

The problem is Hos that Garrett apparently cant handle doing both. He said himself that learning how to manage a game (i.e. when to call timeouts, when to challenge, ect...) was the biggest challenge in going from OC to HC.


It is very apparent that Garrett cannot do both "effectively". That is the key here, sure he can do both but if it starts hurting the team because he is spread too thin then things need to change.

This is actually for Garrett's own good because if he keeps blowing games at the current rate then he will be gone from Big D very quickly.

I know that JG is a good offensive coach and if he doesn't bring in a OC next year that will be fine with me.

I'm not suggesting it but it either but most fans here are up in arms about after that freak loss to the Cards this past Sunday.

That being said, i hope someone is able to convince him to, because i think alot of us would agree that it would be a good idea at this stage of JG's coaching career. Its not easy at all to do both, especially for a very young head coach with not many years of experience. It could only help to have another guy there to take some of the pressure off while JG is still learning things.

In no way can I speak for Hostile, just thought I would jump in and give you what I know about the situation.

Fact is.........Garrett was interested in bringing in Chryst as an offensive coordinator. But Garrett wanted to retain play calling duties. That right there is the real rub. No way, NO HOW is Chryst coming to Dallas to just sit in the background and help devise schemes and gameplans. Not happening in this lifetime. Chryst is a playcaller first and foremost.

No playcalling= No Chryst. Just that simple.


For the record, I dont believe your ever going to get a BIGTIME O.C thats worth a dang to come to Dallas if you dont also include playcalling duties. Its what they do.

My vote's for Sparano to come in. Though I don't think JG gives up play calling responsibilities. Nor do I think Jerry wants him to, which is an even better reason for it not happening.

Not sure, but I thought message boards were created for the sake of discussion. Seriously, just b/c Garrett stated that he would not heed Jimmy and hire a OC does not mean the topic is moot.

Garrett may think it is, but ultimately, it is Jerry's call. And the man did not look pleased during the Cardinals' game. And that was not the first time he looked/acted peeved this season. Second guessing Jason in his rookie HC season started with Jerry.

Interesting thought... Sparano OL + OC ....net zero cost (get d of Houck). I think that he'd do well with one or two more competent linemen, and not be a threat to Jason.
