If Leary's groin prevents him from playing this week, who takes his spot?

I would prefer Collins and let Bernie do his swing C/G duties. But Bernie's good performance last night makes me not want to mess qith a good thing.

Thoughts?

Broaddus said at the end of the preseason that Bernadeau would start over Collins if that situation occurred.

Doesn't make sense. Berny's strength is that could can play multiple positions. Collins is a better talent. If Leary can't go, it's Collins.

Collins had some struggles with the mental side. He often struggled with stunts in the preseason games.

There is no doubt that he will be a very good player at some point, but they were not 100% comfortable with him as of the end of training camp.

It's still possible that they could go with him over Bern, but it is definitely NOT definite.

Bernie is the vet. So he would get the call. Collins will be on the active list to replace Bernie if someone else in the middle of the O line goes out.

That's what I expect but Collins will at least get to be active which means you could get him a few snaps if they wanted

Anyone else notice Free limping towards the end quite a bit?

I saw him limping after 1 play.

It is interesting that they were comfortable with Weems as the backup with Mills on the inactive list. Did they sign Mills because they were worried about Weems being the backup OR was it because they are worried about Free's health?

Good question, probable a little of both.

I think this is how it would play out if Leary can't go.

Or because they wanted a bit more depth at T and didn't want to have to move the rookie over to get it?

Bern doesn't have to sit to be the back-up to TFred or Martin, he can still play LG.

If it comes to that THEN Collins would have to play LG.

For now Mack is the best option. I would activate Collins next week in case someone else goes down in that physical match up.

Yea but the mental mistakes could be crippling.

I actually like the idea of keeping Bern as the backup guard/center, but I think, with this OL, the preference would be to be risk-averse.
