Watching it live it clearly looked like it was thrown to Witten and TW just came in and made a great play on an overthrown ball...

When I watched the replay and saw the play progression it was clear that it was a pass to Williams all along and Witten just happened to be in the area when he adjusted his route too. It doesn't appear that Witten was even looking towards Romo when Romo points, I fully believe Romo's explanation on the throw and catch.

I believe it just appears to be a throw to Witten because T-Will is never in the frame until he swoops in and makes the catch, when the all-22 comes out I think it will be more obvious that it was thrown to TW and we can see him adjusting to Romo's direction.

Williams rolls the same direction Tony does when the play breaks down. Earlier in the play, you see Tony directing traffic. There's no reason why he'd be directing Witten to the sidelines given the route he was running up against the sideline already, so it's pretty obvious he was pointing to Williams there It'd be a safer throw at that point than the throw to Witten, too.

As already stated, Romo did say it was intended for Williams. I thought it was also telling that Witten did not attempt to make a play on the ball..

Also wasnt Romo waving to Williams to keep coming across the field.?

Watching the game again Witten has his back to the ball, and it's clearly over his reach so it's a throw to Williams all the way

Looks like he was waving for the receiver to go down field, maybe I say that wrong.

If you see the end zone view, it is clear it was intended for Williams. Not sure if Romo even saw Witten to be honest.

If Romo said the pass was intended to Williams, then I'm believing him. I know at my work there was a few that thought he was lieing and thought he intended for Witten to catch it. Haters.

Who cares?

Was Montana trying to throw it out of the endzone when Dwight Clark went up and made the Catch that launched a dynasty?

And sent this then 7 year old boy to bed crying?

A phenomenal play ball all involved. I am just going to sit back and enjoy it.

From another article:
http://www.star-telegram.com/2014/10/12/6195067/williams-two-big-catches-critical.html

“As I see it, I kind of see Witten and I see Terrance and I see their DBs,” Romo said. “The one DB plays pretty smart because he kind of backs off Witten for a sec and, in that moment, he’s going to try to get to Terrance if I shoot into him fast.

“So you try and get it over him, but make sure Terrance’s [defender] doesn’t have a chance to get to the ball and keep it inside. So you put it over the first guy and away from the second guy, and Terrance just did all the rest. He made a great play.”

Amazing thing about Romo is, not just that he can escape from would be sackers, but he can process all that info while being chased and dodging 300LB Dlinmen.

Excuse me if this has been brought up somewhere.

On the 3rd and 20, it looked like Romo was throwing to Witten and Williams came in at the last second. Did anyone in the media ask this? If so, what did Romo say?

If you look at Romo's head when he points toward the receiver before he throws it, it's clear he was looking at Williams and not Witten. Although they ended up in the same area, when Romo started pointing, Williams was closer to the center of the field while Witten was running along the sideline. Romo pretty clearly points in Williams' direction.

I care but I agree with your point. What I enjoy seeing is teammates elevating their level of play and making big plays. I am almost afraid to post about it in fear that it will somehow jinx the team. Yet, the big play catches by Bryant against the Texans and Williams catch against the Seahawks must be inspirational for Romo. He is seeing that he does not need to make the perfect pass to get the job done because he got guys who will get it done. That is what other successful quarterbacks have depended upon and received in the clutch. Heck, Eli Manning has more Super Bowl rings than his brother partially due to that very reason. I'm proud of our receiving core. Damn proud.
