Shows you just how valuable coaching is.We've drafted well.
I just wish we had more to show for it.
I agree.Shows you just how valuable coaching is.
I'd interpret it the other way. Even with letting Rod throw away picks on his pet cats, the Cowboys drafted very well. Imagine where they'd be on the list if they'd muzzled him? This must be the rebuttal to the Rod Marinelli thread.
we drafted well offensively. I wish there was a similar report for offensive/defensive draft breakdown. We've drafted well.
I just wish we had more to show for it.
actually, we drafted well offensively, but not defensively. now, I am not judging 2020 yet.....but it looks more positiveThis must be the rebuttal to the Rod Marinelli thread.
Luck covered up ALOT of warts for that team
We have draft an awful lot of defensive players. We have just gotten very few studs out of those picks. Pretty much just Lawrence in the last 10 years. The D picks that did "hit", were usually middling guys like Awuzie and Maliek Collinscoaching and position selection plagued the cowboys. Offensive heavy strategy sells tickets but does not get you a super bowl. I think jerry is realizing this lately. i hope
Depends on what you would consider a good pick. Alot of the defensive players we have draft that become starters left after their rookie contract.we drafted well offensively. I wish there was a similar report for offensive/defensive draft breakdown.
well, I did this analysis prior to the draft...nothing official. I wasn't just looking for starters, but contributors and high level performers. excluding 2020 (as its still being evaluated), we had drafted 1 impact, high contributor defensive player since 2005, namely Lawrence. we can argue about a few more ala Spencer, Crawford.....LVE....but some may consider LVE, but too injury prone...but offensively same period we had Smith, Dak, Zeke, Gallup, Martin, Pollard, Cooper (kind of), Fredrick, Collins (UDFA), , Murray, Bryant, Rico Gathers (LOL, just joking)...we drafted 54 offensive players and 45 defensive players so it wasn't like we didn't draft defensively, we just couldn't hit on any...even first rounders ala LVE (yes, injury prone) and Taco, ClaiborneDepends on what you would consider a good pick. Alot of the defensive players we have draft that become starters left after their rookie contract.
If you want to go by the "drafting starters" model. We have done well. However we are also probably a prime example of the limitations of that method of evaluation.
actually lawrence in the past 15 years is about it.We have draft an awful lot of defensive players. We have just gotten very few studs out of those picks. Pretty much just Lawrence in the last 10 years. The D picks that did "hit", were usually middling guys like Awuzie and Maliek Collins
what does the chart mean? what is 30 AV? what are those numbers?
