His play makes up for the penalties. He has definitely improved his technique since his college days. He's not Zack Martin in that regard, but I'd still take Tyler Smith over Martin at this point in their careers.

I don't at all disagree with that, which is why I said penalties alone shouldn't disqualify him. I was merely pointing out that he is, in fact, up there on the list (he has nearly twice as many penalties as Tyron, Zach, and Biadasz combined).
