Who will be the surprise of Training Camp?

We heard that last summer as well.

Shanle is a good backup, but he is exposed in coverage situations, he doesn't recognize plays quickly enough, etc. All he has going for him is size - and although that is a big deal, he was a bigger liability than Fujita last year, if only because Fujita just got outmatched physically - Shanle is easily fooled.

Don't even try.

Shanle is just now entering his prime, had a great offseason conditioning program, and is coming of a career year. He's better in coverage than you give him credit for, in fact he's always shined in the nickel. Comparing him to Fujita don't make much sense either...

Add to that he's entering year two in the 3-4.....all adds up to big things for this former walk-on at nebraska....true football player if The Answer's ever seen one. This kid is for REAL!

I'm not going to - I've said my piece, he's said his. We aren't going to agree at this point, so we can really only wait and see.

I'll go with Kai Parham - may not be track fast, but I'm betting he has football speed. Should know the system, and being undrafted, would be a training camp surprise.

I think both UDFA ILB's will be surprises, as will Austin Miles, and the OG's (Kozier, Peterman, and Snell).

I just put it in the other thread, but I think McQuistan is going to show that he can eventually play on this level.

I'll take Columbo and Beriault. Both coming back form career threatening injuries.

wrong.

Shanle should tackle your sorry *** into oblivion, but the great Shanle is merciful.

Last year in training camp Scott Shanle brought a stillborn baby lamb back to life by giving it a prolonged pad rub. Shortly after the farm animal sprang back to life and a crowd had gathered, Sott Shanle tackled the animal, breaking its neck,to remind the team once more that the good Scott giveth, and the good Scott, he taketh away.

Good Scott....that was great!!!

I think Justin Beriult(sp?) will be the surprise and I'm hoping that Kyle Kosier is as well.

Kosier got a 15 million contract to sign here and by alot of accounts was the #1 target of this team for the OL...a "surprise" with him would be bad, because they apparently expect him to at least be adequate

I'd Shanle is a longshot to even make the team...he was pretty poor when he was on the field last yr, and Ryan Fowler clearly outplayed him when he got on the field later in the season...I've also never seen Shanle "shine" in the nickel as you mention...
