I am not convinced the talk of Miles being gone after this year is going to come to fruition.
He may have very well found a regimen to keep his hamstrings from acting up. They have not acted up at all and he has looked explosive. He is only 29 years old and still should be playing at his peak level right now. With Dez lighting things up on the other side he may be poised for a monster year working the other side. I think he is going to be the #2 option in the passing game and will probably amass somewhere around 1250 yards this year while Dez picks up around 1700.and Witten about 800. That trio of elite playmakers could propel us into SB contention if the defense puts up a typical Kiffen season.
As for Miles in 2015 who knows. Dez will be into his extension at that point and Romo will be in his third year. My guess is we try to keep him if he has played well in 2013 and 2014. By that stage TWill should really be coming into his own, though, and we will have to decide if he can step into Miles shoes. This will be one of the last great years of Romo at 36 years of age and we may just throw caution to the wind and mortgage things up a bit to keep the explosive offense intact.
If you look at Austin's contract, there is a very good chance they restructure him again next year. I could very easily see him here through the 2015 season.
There is no longer any signing bonus to Miles Austin, it's all restructured money that was paid in advance.
Dead money to cut him next year is 7.8 million dollars. His current 2014 cap hit is 8.2 million dollars, which can be restructured.
You can take his cap hit down to 5.14 million, which is really acceptable if he can stay healthy and produce.
That brings his 2015 cap hit to 11.18 million. Which sounds bad but can again be restructured to 8.8 million, which is a bit prohibitive, but not impossible to pay him depending on his 2013 and 2014 seasons. You could also see him take a cut in base salary to stay with the team.
