SilverStar your dense, but I'm going to try to get through one more time.

I guarantee you that no team that runs a 3-4 will sign Jimmy K to play NT for them. Not one. The reason is because he's never played in that scheme. He's just been released by his 4th NFL team because he was a below average 4-3 dt yet you continue to say he'd be a good fit here.

Why? Really, think about it and state your case. You think that in his 9th year in the league, in a completely new scheme, playing a new position, he's going to magically flourish after washing out everywhere else he's been? Please.

And FYI the only reason Williams was let go was becasue of a roster bonus he was due tomorrow. He's played at an All Pro level in the NFL. JK hopes to be average.

Finally, if you're so confident you're right, put up a poll in the NFL section and have others vote on who they would rather have as a backup to Ratliff, given the choice between only the two.

I bet you won't though. :)

This is pathetic!

I've already stated my case KD and you know it.

We're talking about a younger player in Kennedy, who's proven he can get to the passer more than Siavii in a reserve role. You're contention, is that since Kennedy has never played in a 3-4 scheme that he just can't....that's ridiculous!

You haven't answered my questions...

Why hasn't Wade brought in a big NT to Dallas like Jamal Williams?
Why did Williams wait 6 years to flourish as a NT?
Why did Williams only play 1 game last year?
Why does Willams also average 1 sack a season like Kennedy?

...maybe it's because the answers don't help YOUR case.

If you think it matters, then put up the poll yourself KD!!

It's your freakin' idea...not mine.

I'd rather wait until after the draft. If we come away without a NT (like we do every year :( ), then I'd sign Jamal Williams or Jimmy Kennedy. As a backup it doesn't really matter too much to me which.

Siavii is horrible to me. I know some guys on here like him, but I don't see what you guys see.

I like your thinking OP. Kennedy is an under the radar type FA that has found his niche in the league. I think he'd be a great fit if the price is right.

I thought Siavii came along well last year and spelled Ratliff just fine. The worry becomes if Ratliff gets hurt. Kennedy has been a career 3-4 guy. Not sure if he fits in Wade's scheme, plus he may ask for a lot of $$$$ which could be a problem.

I wouldn't be against the signing. But I just get the feeling we are going after a few down linemen in this draft early on and it will surprise/anger/disappoint a lot of people.

I wouldn't mind that at all. I've been wanting to get a Seymour type guy for years... we tried getting that with Spears, and he's obviously not a bust.. but he's not the guy we thought we were getting. Hatcher was supposed to be a good pass rusher too.

The backup to Ratliff is more a prototypical NT. We have to have that on our team for short yardage and goal line plays. That's Siavii's role or the role of any backup NT on the team. He doesn't play the same scheme as Ratliff.

Hatcher was not 100% last year. He came on some at the end. I don't want to lose either Hatcher or Bowen. Both will play at higher levels this year.

Free agency brings out the hysterics.

I think that right now, we can only sign one guy right? I honestly don't know why we are even talking about this. Does anybody want the one guy that we sign this year to be Jimmy Kennedy or Jamal Williams?

good point on that one. but if at some point we can sign more it would be nice. correct me if im wrong but i thought we could sign as many players as we want and long as they were not restricted free agents. i cant find the thread that adam clarified this issue. either way if we see something we like we can cut a few bums at the bottom of the roster to make room

No you don't get it, because you can't understand that Wade's 3-4 defense is all about attacking gaps and not just being a fat NT tyings up blockers and anchoring against the run.

There are different ways of running the 3-4 defense, but I guess that's just too much for you to comprehend.
