Just asking, what is our record with him this year?

Impossible to tell. There are so many factors that determine the outcome of a game that he can't control. Any number would just be a wild guess. If JG doesn't choke away any games and the defense is at least serviceable that is a good start towards 9 to 10 wins.

Finally! Someone brave enough to create a thread about magic on this forum. It's been a long time coming. Now I can finally get something off my chest!

You know what I hate? Genies. Sure, some of them are gorgeous blonds, wearing frilly little pajamas, exposing cute belly buttons, only for NBC to cover them up, but dang it, that's beside the point!

What's up with the wishing rules? So you get three measly wishes. Wishes are supposed to be magical. Why can't I ask for MORE than three wishes? Talk about making sure to read the fine print. Did I free Perry Mason from the freaking lamp?

Oh. By the way, I wish Romo protected from injury. ****** IT! Used a wish. And that's another thing. What if you're sloshed when the genie grants the wishes? You can think up some crazy crap when you're drunk:

"Okay *hic* I wish I owned the Dallas Cowboys *burp*..."

DONE!

Next morning, you wake up, look in the mirror, and there's Jerry Jones starting right back at you. Ain't that some

BTW, who's ever heard if a single-use spell?

"The whole team" is the correct answer. And of course myself, just in case.

I would say Dez. Heck, even Weeden could get us to 8-8 as long as we have Dez out there.

Explain how Weeden could get the Cowboys to 8-8 when he was part of the Browns 4-12 debacle last season? In Weeden's 5 starts last season in Cleveland he was 0-5 despite the Browns having the 9th ranked defense and having the most productive WR in the league Josh Gordon. In Weeden's 5 starts he had 9 turnovers. He had 2 more turnovers in relief. He's had 29 turnovers in his 20 starts and 3 relief appearances over his 2 seasons. Even Romo would roll his eyes to that turnover total.

You honestly believe Weeden could win 8 games with a Cowboys team that had the 3rd worst defense in NFL history last season? If Romo were to have a serious setback this summer (gosh forbid) forcing him to miss the entire 2014 season the Cowboys may end up with the #1 overall pick in 2015 with Weeden at QB. You claim you're a realist but you're anything but a realist when it comes to Romo and some of the average QB's you would take over him prove it.

The bottom line is it's any QB but Romo for you. Does he have some warts? Yes he does and many FANS are in denial over them but his production and efficiency throughout most of the regular season gives the Cowboys a much better chance of success than any of the average QB's you would take over him. None of them have been productive or have given their teams much of a chance which has led to them all being kicked to the curb.

We'd be lucky to win 4 games with Weeden.

Only if he was playing against the Rams every week.

Finally. I see all this hype about Murray here and honestly if he walks after this year he walks. He is easily replaceable

We used to hear the same thing about old man Kitna and yet he led the team to a 5-4 record in 2010 after Romo started off 1-6 that year. I'm not saying Kitna or Weeden are better than Romo but predicting the team would go 4-12 without Romo is just ridiculous. Weeden is a great backup to have and so was Orton. The only teams we beat last year were teams below .500. If Weeden was the QB he would have a much better offense to work with than he did in Cleveland, solid line, solid RB, solid TE, elite receiver, etc. We could make it to 8-8 with him. He is capable of beating the teams under .500 too.

Give him some help and he will win more. Winning 8 games with the worse defense in the league and JG as HC is damn impressive.

Did we have the worse defense in the league in 2011 and 2012? Our record was 8-8 those years too. I do agree that getting to 8-8 with JG as the HC is impressive though. Hopefully, this will be the last year of that.. but I doubt it.

I won't get drawn into that debate because that wasn't a part of the original post I was responding to. Regarding Garrett, unless the wheels completely fall off I fully expect to see him return next year.

If we had Orton I think we could win 6 or 7 games. I'm just going by what I saw of Weeden last year and he looked lost. I saw about 4 of his games. The Cowboys really have to coach him up and I don't know if they can. On the plus side, it would mean using the running game a lot more.

Fair enough. We should use the running game more anyway to be a more balanced team.

Yeah, I agree on that. If we get to 8-8 again, Jerry will think we are real close, like a lot of our fans and he will probably retain JG, but if the wheels do come off, which is also possible, then he might cut him.

I agree 4 wins would be an accomplishment with Weeden. All the Cowboys have going for them is their offense they're going to have to outscore some teams to win games.

With Tyron and Dez up for extensions Murray will be on the outside looking in. Even if he were to play all 16 games and have a big year it would be very difficult for the Cowboys to resign all 3 players and Tyron and Dez aren't going anywhere. Murray was a 3rd round pick you can find RB's later in the draft especially with teams not drafting them as high anymore. We didn't see an RB taken until the 54th pick a few weeks ago.
