The consensus seems to be that the current trio is bad. Granted Tony is by far the worst, but they all seem to be lacking. I would be willing to bet if you go back and time how long they talk about the actually game its going to be less than 20 minutes. So, if you were the CEO of ESPN, who would you place in their position...lets say it can be anybody but yourself...

I am going with

Mike Golic and Mike Greenburg

Kind of risky as I have never heard them commentate a game, but both seem very knowledgeable and well spoken.

Hmm, don't really know anyone very good who isn't under contract.

But my dream team broadcasting crew would be an Al Michaels and Dick Vermeil team.

If they would take Cornhole out of the booth I would not have a problem with Jaws and Trico. Why they feel the need to add a 3rd wheel is beyond me.

Watch out for Deion and Marshall Faulk as up and coming analysts too. Neither can do play by play, but both did really well when they did a game for NFL network last year.

Tony Boselli is another guy.

Blame ESPN for that. Their execs seem to think that no one will watch a football game without a "story". And Kornheiser is their "story man".

He is a bad story man, he rambles on about nothing. Lucky for me I have learned the art of tuning out meaningless rambling during a game. Half the time I don't know or care what he is talking about.

Jaws was giddy about his Eagles last night. But I must admit when dallas took control late with Ware manhandling McNabb, Jaws was the first to comment and make some really good points that were not biased.

Kornheiser is a journalist. His comnments about McNabb and Reid being the spine of the team shows he is more suited to flowery prose than commentary.

It appears they are trying to recapture the magic with Cosell in the booth. But if that is the case, they will need to get someone with a backbone.

I like the idea of Mike and Mike. And I did enjoy Deion and Marshall from NFLN a while back. Just get me a couple of football guys who will talk about the game, and I'm fine. I don't need all of the extra stuff...

There was only one Howard. I do agree that is what they are trying to capture but I don't think they can. Personally I think having 2 people in the booth is better because there is less meaningless bantering.

I think Al Michaels is the best play-by-play guy.

For color commentary, I think a team of Riggins and Irvin would be highly entertaining!

Al Michaels, Tim Ryan and Hugh Millen, with Tony Siragusa on the sidelines.

Michaels is the best play-by-play man in the past 25 years.

Ryan is the best right now at breaking down line play.

Millen is great at breaking down schemes and passing offenses/defenses.

Siragusa is there for comedic effect.

They did a MNF game couple years ago. One of the best I've heard.

Al Micheals, Frank Gifford, and Dan Dierdorf. I grew up watching them. Just doesnt seem right without them.
