Who would you take now? Steeler's LBs or our LBs?

A little while back, someone posed this question and the overwhelming response seemed to be the Steelers.

I'm just wondering what people thought about it now that Sean Lee is D player of the month and Spencer is putting up sack stats.............it's funny how quickly things chance in a few weeks.

I was thinking this the other day. lol. My how fast the tide turns.

With the emergance of Lee it becomes a discussion again, but Steelers still win out.. Timmons is as good as Lee. Farrior eats both James and Brookings lunch. Ware beats out Harrison, and Woodley beats out Spencer.

However, Chris Carter, Jason Worilds, Larry Foote absolutely wreck Victor Butler and Bruce Carter(who we haven't even seen yet).

So it's the steelers, the starters are very comparable but when you discuss backups it's not even a question.

The right answer is still probably the Steelers unit, I know, but I'll admit. I'm taking any unit with D-Ware over what the Steelers have.

DWare > All other linebackers

I'd play DeMarcus Ware by himself with 7 DBs on the field before I take the Steelers linebackers.

I like the Cowboys youth over their age. Our LB's have a future. Their best days are behind them.

The jury's still out for me, but Spence has been flying around the field lately. If he keeps this up long term, I kind of like our guys. I always thought he was an above average player that made too many mistakes, but the last three weeks he looks so much faster than I can recall.

Timmons is like 4 yrs pro, woodely is like 3.

The key is Spencer. If he closes the gap on Woodley, I take the Cowboys and don't think twice.

The thing is - you can't just do a checklist of who is better at each position. Sometimes a player is so frighteningly good (Ware) that it shifts the entire equation.

But if we're talking about this season? I'd say it's a push to a slight Pittsburgh advantage. The next 5 years? I'm not sure there's a unit I'd take over Dallas.

Why would you discuss backups? Backups don't start on gameday.

So if our linebackers are better than the Stealers, but we still suck, how is this question meaningful?

Ware and Lee alone are better than the whole stealer LB group.

Woodley and Harrison are severely overrated. They put up impressive numbers due to their defensive schemes, rarely beating a tackle for a sack.

There are dozens of LBs in the NFL that could step into that defense and put up similar numbers.

Both are mediocre to lousy in coverage also.
