Man a tough question. I like them all so well and they all had important rolls in the Cowboys winning 3 Superbowls.

I have alway maintained though that the key player on a team is the QB, so I have to with Troy Aikman.

Michael Irvin....<He was the key piece to the puzzell...

Just notice when Aikman went down, Jason Garrett came in and was winning games...

Notice if Emmitt Smith went down, Herschal Walker or Sherman Williams came in and we still was winning games...

Now Notice when Michael Irvin went down we go from starting 4-0 to 8-8 so that means we went 4-8 once Irvin dropped...and a loss in the first round...

So I have to say Irvin...

My first instinct says Michael, he was the inspirational leader of the team.. but he'd just be a pain in da *** if he didn't have someone like Troy making sure he got the ball.

If we are hoping for the same end result then I'll take all 3. I think each one is a great player in his own right but I don't think we win 3 out of 4 SB without each one in the lineup. As for the poll I selected Troy in large part because I think it is harder to find a quality QB

tough call but great wr's and rb's are just not as important as great qb's. and great qb's are much harder to come by. my vote troy

Michael, because after he left, the heart and soul was absent from our team for evermore....the apples of the valley hold the seeds of happiness. The ground is rich from tender care, repay do not forget.

Agreed ... Steve Beurlein and Jason Garrett stepped in without a hitch. Anthony Wright, Ryan Leaf, et al couldn't.

Notice if Emmitt Smith went down, Herschal Walker or Sherman Williams came in and we still was winning games...

When Emmitt held out in 1992, we went 0-2 ... losing to the Bills and Commanders. With Emmitt back, we won the Super Bowl.

Now Notice when Michael Irvin went down we go from starting 4-0 to 8-8 so that means we went 4-8 once Irvin dropped...and a loss in the first round...

By then, the talent had eroded around the team so drastically ... we were simply one person away from desaster. Michael was that one person.

This is such a great question. My hats off to the author.

I truly believe there is no right answer. And if you back back to old game tapes and see them all in action again you will be reminded truly of each ones greatness.

And then you realize... we had them all, all at the same time, and their careers were basically in lock-step. No fan has any right to expect that.

The disappointing part is that for as difficult as it is to catch lightning in a bottle, to do so twice is even harder. We may never see the day again. How sad is that.

I would want #88 back! Can you imagine my main man, Mike, playing with T.O.? Who would be able to stop those two? And with Terry Glenn streaking down the sideline? And Whitten working the middle?

Hell, QC could be the QB, and finally be "one of the greats"! :laugh2:

I say Troy, only because that position is so hard to replace. We have TO at WR, and decent RB play, Troy would have to be the pick, with Emmitt a close 2nd.

I don't think Emmitt and Herchel was on the team at the same time. We traded him for that boat load of picks and got Emmitt in that draft, I think.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Troy without a doubt. You can always find top RBs and WRs in every draft but franchise QBs of Aikman's caliber only come along once in a great while.

The reason we stunk when Irvin went down is because we have not drafted or developed a decent WR since selecting him in 1988. Other teams find and develop WRs regularly but not us.

When the TRIPLETS were great... they COULDNT win without Emmitt. So I say Emmitt.

0-2 start in the SB repeat season
